How did you find out?

Email. .

When? And can you post stats?

Yesterday.

I’m mobile so I can’t do the template… And I didn’t get an official acceptance letter like the other poster didn’t, but it’s implied because the scholarships require attendance to a fly-in and they wouldn’t make us come if they didn’t accept us.

UW GPA: 3.95
SAT CR+M: 1380
Rank: 4/249
Connecticut, public high school. Female.

A lot of awards. Like literally a lot, across all disciplines. Engineering major (prospective). Job, I work a lot. Good teacher rec’s (for scholarship and regular app).

does this mean that if you haven’t been notified yet, then you aren’t going to be invited to a singer or singer/stamps weekend?

CPU was notified for the Hammond Scholarship. Completely seperate from the Singer/Stamps Weekend. Thetruth2012, how did you find out about Stamps?

oh ok, thanks marinebio. fingers still crossed then ^_^.

Yep. I’m hoping that the emails have just started to trickle in, and by tomorrow around this time they’ll be coming out left and right :)

I wonder when they will notify for the Jenkins Scholarship.

I think the HPME candidates already found out if they were scholarship nominees.
Not sure if Thetruth falls in this category, but maybe? Or maybe emails will start coming. Travel plans have to be made so it has to be soon. Good luck!

As a side note is it true that those who are invited to interview for the Singer but do not get it usually get a little extra merit money thrown their way?

[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Way too many. Played many sports, but excelled in all of them. Clubs such as Key Club, Lacrosse Club, and an Officer in Ping Pong Club. Helped found one of the largest clubs at school, SWAG club. Freshman Year I was a starting hockey goaltender for one of the top teams in the nation. Sophomore Year I was a 5th seed singles starter and 2nd seed doubles starter for tennis. I was also the only player from my school to reach the district finals in the district tournament. Junior Year I participated in the school’s inaugural lacrosse team and assumed a captain position. Senior Year I continued lacrosse.
[] Common App Main: Not sure what this means lol

[] Counselor Rec: Can’t read them but probably good? I used to get in trouble with my guidance counselor a lot during my first two years of high school. However, this year, my guidance counselor told my mom how proud she is to have seen my grown and mature.

[] Income Bracket: 250,000 +
[li] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Nahhh.
[/li]

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: My extra curricular definitely outweighed my low GPA. And although my GPA is .6 points lower than some of those who were accepted, the IB course load is really in a league of its own. IB schools deflate grades and create a weeding out system to remove the students who are incapable of surviving IB. I not only played many sports, but I excelled and showed leadership in all of them. Also, my upward trend helped a lot. I had B’s and C’s freshman year, all B’s and 2 A’s sophomore year, then almost all A’s junior year.
[] Weaknesses: Low GPA and Low SAT Scores…you know
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Strong extra curricular and essay. The recommendations were probably also a major factor, but I can’t read them. [/li][/ul]General Comments: If it isn’t obvious by my average/below-average GPA and SAT…Extra Curricular can be a major deciding factor. I’ve learned after seeing my sister apply and having my parents tell me advice that colleges don’t want the smartest people. They want the most balanced and well-rounded individuals. Excel at your sports. Always think: “If my school didn’t offer this, would I still be a part of this club/sport? Do I need to do something outside of school?” It will be what separates you from a Jack of All Trades, Master of None to a Master of All. Also, make your personality come out in the essay. Really make it personal.
