Hi, everyone out there! I'm applying ED1 to CMC, my <3. Anyone else here to freak out with me? XD

ahh! me too, i’m freaking out. do you know if they mail us decisions or update the online portal?

Yes, it seems almost like a dream. 14 more days. Wow. According to the admission officer I spoke to a couple weeks ago, applications are equally weighed between fit (leadership) and academic achievement. Hence, I think I actually have a decent chance. Can’t help but hold my breath every time I think about it. Applying as an IR/Computer Science major. How about you guys?

Hi guys! They will undoubtedly mail us the decision but I believe that they’ll also send us an email with a link to our decision too. Probably at the same location as our Application Checklist.

Hopefully, it’ll be less than 14 days (: Xmalya, the admin. officer at my info session also stressed how leadership is quite important. I’m going in as an IR major but I’m really interested in Econ and Philosophy too so I might try and go PPE… It’s fantastic to find a liberal arts school with a focus, in my opinion.

@xmalya Wow! I really hope the part about weighing leadership and academics equally is true because my stats are really low… like 25th percentile low. I’m applying as an Economics major

@ romanticninja Yeah the PPE major sounds interesting. Now that I applied ED, I’m having trouble finding a school that is similar to CMC to apply to RD just in case, especially for an IR major, my options are limited.

@pepperminty I remember him telling me that the readers give our application three scores, one for academia, one for fit, and one for the overall feel of the application. Hence the chances for someone with a 2400 SAT score and 4.0 GPA who is not a good fit are minimal, and the same goes for someone who has a 2.5 GPA and 1300 SAT score but is a good fit. My stats are not spectacular either, but my school is really competitive.

Good luck to all of us 11 more days.

10 more days. i’m thinking about management/engineering. i hope they take the essays seriously. with that and the equal weight between leadership and academics, i think i have a decent shot.

@kelski12 The Economics/Engineering program sounds really interesting. I was considering it but the course requirements seem to be not worth it for me. It’s a great opportunity though.

@xmalya That’s really interesting. I’ve never heard of CMC admissions being broken down like that so that’s really insightful! Did you go to an info session at CMC? I had an alumni interview and she repeatedly told me how great of a fit for CMC I was so now you got my hopes up again! Also, what do you mean by “overall feel”? Like, how our application looks as a whole, which would basically mean like how much of a balance there is between leadership + academics?

PS - countdown!
<a href=“Time since Dec 15, 2011 5:00 pm started in New York”>Time since Dec 15, 2011 5:00 pm started in New York;

Pepperminty,

Anyone who is willing to breakdown the time remaining into seconds, should be rewarded for their attention to detail.

Good luck to everyone!

@pepperminty I went to an information session, campus tour, and an on campus interview. I think he was referring to the application with the personal statement, supplements, recommendations, ex. I took it one step further and included a resume, so hopefully that will help me stand out.

Do we get our notification at 5 EST or PST? I need to stock up on the food and tissues, just in case.

Really nervous here haha. I have solid ecs with leadership but my GPA and CR for SAT are under the avg… plus being an international student.

I honestly dont think my analytical essay was good enough but my personal statement was pretty strong.

Im planning to major in Econ-Accounting and IR. Any other international applicants this year?

@xmalya Nice! I gave my resume to my alumni interviewer who then asked me via email to send her an electronic copy so hopefully that made its way into my file haha. Are you east coast or west coast? And hmm I’m not sure, that’s a good point - I always assumed 5 PM eastern time just because that’s my timezone but it’s probably 5 PM PST.

@UrbanNight yeah, my stats are really, really low (as mentioned, 25th percentile) so I’m hoping they can see past that…

@UrbanNight I would see being an international student as a plus and would work to your benefit. If you don’t mind me asking, what country are you from? I’m curious.

@pepperminty I’m from the Los Angeles area. Yeah it’s probably 5 pm PST, we will find out sooner or later. I’m guessing from the countdown you are from NYC.

@xmalya Oh my god. Then I’ll find out during school. Also, I guess the countdown is inaccurate so here is the new and improved version!
[Countdown to Dec 15, 2011 5:00 PM in Los Angeles](<a href=“Time since Dec 15, 2011 5:00 pm started in Los Angeles”>Time since Dec 15, 2011 5:00 pm started in Los Angeles)

@pepperminty Yeah, you can check during class and if you get in, run down the hall, and yell “I got in!” all the way to the councilor’s office. I’ve always wanted to do that.

Is the 5 o’clock a random time you picked? Or is that from somewhere?

@@xmalya

From Korea.
Idk… cuz international pool is usually much more competitive…
I live in east coast btw

CMC has been my long time dream school
I visited this summer and did interview
I really hope I can get in

And is it that 5 o clock on eastern time? i hope its not 5 pm for the west coast

Has anyone noticed that on https://webapps.cmc.edu/admissionstatus it lists

Admission Notification Dates:
Early Decision I: Wednesday, December 15
Early Decision II: Tuesday, February 15
Regular Decision: Friday, April 1

December 15th 2011 is on Thursday (and likewise the other ones are wrong as well). Guess they did not update it from last year…

I would think it is Pacific time because that is where CMC is. I’m going to die in school that day, I’m on the east coast as well and that wouldn’t be until 8pm here.

Those look like last year’s dates, but I remember my friend telling me he found out on around Dec. 8th last year. So… interesting. I’m an international student too! Living in China.
