Class of 2016 (regular decision)

heartarrow, how can you tell what you got in for? My kid’s letter doesn’t specify. He did apply to the school of management, so I’d assume that’s what he got into.

Thank you so much busdriver, you made my night better!

yeah esecro12 dont trip lol. it seems like the admission staff made a mistake. your stats are off the chart

And I hope your next couple of days get better too, esecro. My son is also applying to CMU, and I have a son who is a junior there right now, so believe me I know what I’m talking about how they really appreciate and are highly interested in girls like you. Good luck!

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Courseload, GPA/Class Rank, Extracurricular activities, SAT I scores
[] Weaknesses: Writing, suspicious absence of history classes (which I loathe!)
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Overall strong application
[li] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted: UConn, RIT, Siena, U of Kentucky; Waiting to hear from: Vanderbilt, Williams, NYU, WPI[/li][/ul]General Comments: I was sent a track recruitment form, which is how I found out about the school. I sent it in only to find out that they don’t offer track scholarships, they can’t help me get in, and I have to try out for the team (every year, too). Still, I’m excited to have been admitted!

Also, I see that many people are having issues getting their admissions decisions. The first time I logged in, I got the same server error message (using Firefox). I tried again using Google Chrome and I was successful.

Best of luck to everyone on their college pursuits!

*Edit: Forgot an extracurricular activity

@busdriver

i got in for civil engineering. i just chose to tack on the management option. however, i received an email weeks ago stating there were over 200 applicants for 6 spots.

to everyone else: double check your major by scrolling and looking at the bottom left of the letter

Tried Google Chrome, still getting error code. This is so frustrating.

Congrats to those who got in!!
I’m going to check later…

Hoping for the best!!

did anyone else have password troubles for the portal? it is denying me access for my specific username…but congrats to all who got in! i hope to find out soon…

Has anyone gotten a rejection response yet? I’m starting to get worried that they messed up the generic rejection letter and that’s what I’m getting… :(

Oh, and congrats to all who got in! You deserve it!

I’m a little surprised that I was wait listed, and now I’m really concerned that this will happen with other schools like Lehigh, Notre Dame, and Vanderbilt. At this point I guess I should just give up on the ivies to which I applied. I got a likely letter from UVA (out of state), and everything with my application seems to match or exceed Bucknell’s standards. I don’t get it. Any thoughts?

Brief overview of stats:

White male from New Jersey
IB Diploma Candidate, AP Scholar

SAT Superscore: 2230 (CR: 700 M:740 W: 790)
SAT IIs:
Math II 800
Spanish 700
Physics 680

Class Rank: 11/341 (ridiculously competitive class)
GPA: 3.95 unweighted; 5.39 weighted
All honors/AP/IB all four years
NHS, Spanish Honor Society, NJ Boys’ State Delegate, Student Council Treasurer

5 varsity letters, track captain (12)
Extensive volunteering for Relay for Life, Church organizations, community assistance projects, town’s youth track program
Have run sprinkler servicing and lawn maintenance businesses for the last six years

I, too, was waitlisted. I have a 4.0 uw GPA, 4.7 weighted and 2220 SAT. Looks like Bucknell suffers from the Tufts/WashU syndrome too. There is NO way that I was waitlisted because my stats are not up to Bucknell’s standards. I am in the top 5% of my class of 500 at an EXTREMELY competitive high school. And I have taken nothing but honors and APs. I guess my “safety” school was not such a “safety” school after all…

[ b]Reflection**
[ *] Strengths: the note that the dean of admissions said they really liked my personal statement
[ *] Weaknesses: SAT scores/gpa?
[ *] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I think I was very well rounded and strong overall.
[ *] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Thus far, Colgate, Villanova, Loyola and Providence

I, too was waitlisted. Although it makes be feel better that people with much better stats were too lol.

I have a feeling that they may not have taken over qualified applicants, anticipating that they will not choose bucknell anyway. That’s the only explanation I can think of.

^ I think you’re right, thehouse23. No school wants to considered a back-up or safety … plus how can Bucknell be considered a “safety” for any student when it’s acceptance rate last year was 27%?

I’ve tried it on chrome, explorer and safari. I keep getting that stupid error code after I press ‘see our decision’. Do you think it could be because the server is overloaded right now?

I have yet to hear of anyone being rejected. Suffice it to say that I think the error code is popping up for people who have been rejected. They likely botched the coding for the generic “sorry we can’t accept you” letter. Hope to god I’m wrong…

EDIT: Nevermind. I was wrong. Waitlisted.

WOW I got waitlisted. 2150 SATs, 2120 on my 3 best SAT IIs, national merit commended scholar, 5 AP classes, 200+ volunteer hours, steady job, VP of NHS, year-round athlete. And I applied as an anthropology major… How many of those do you think they even get?

Can some more accepted people post their stats so we can compare?
