Class of 2016 Results: Celebrate, Discuss, Support Here

New Mexico Tech, a tiny school in New Mexico.

It’s been fun reading about everyone’s acceptances. Finally, my son heard from his first acceptance: Baylor! This is my last child to go through the process and you think it would get easier and it does in many ways. But the waiting to hear never gets easier. Also, too bad the kids aren’t exactly the same  Then maybe I would have something figured out! One thing that doesn’t change is the excitement from hearing from the first school acceptance. Congrats to all!

It has been 4 years since I posted, back when my son was going through the process. Now the time is close for him to finish at UNC-CH and looking at Law Schools. But this is about my D - the youngest and last of the bunch. She was accepted First Choice into UNC-W and is patiently waiting for the other 3 schools to decide. Whatever the outcome, we are very proud of her. Congrats to all the Ps out there. Another chapter read.

laserp, congratulations to your son!

My son received notification yesterday that he was awarded and NROTC scholarship for University of Pittsburgh with placement at the Carnegie Mellon NROTC unit. He is so excited. Still waiting on nominations for US Naval Academy as this is his first choice. He is so excited - NROTC may be his final choice!

wghartz:

If you haven’t found this website yet, go to [ROTC - United States of America Service Academy Forums](http://www.serviceacademyforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=27)

It is a great resource to ask questions and read about other Academy and ROTC candidates journeys. Everyone there would love to hear about your son!

congratulations!

D2 just got accepted at Cornell A&S ED. We are just thrilled. She is done and we are done too.

YAY, oldfort! I’m sure she’ll be as happy and successful there as your d1 was. Great news and, of course, great school - congrats to all of you!

Accepted to the Cornell College of Engineering! Extremely excited. Only bad thing is that I’m awaiting the financial aid package. There is a good-somewhat good chance I won’t be able to go because of finances.

this is my first time on this forum, so hoping for some answers. Does anyone know Chapman University admission stats? My D applied for EA and is an Education major. The school seems very focused on the Arts, but i hear it’s also a good school for Education and it’s her first choice.

Also, does anyone know if Univ of Oregon is a WUE school for the Education Major?

thanks!

son just got into penn today via website post. what is next step

This is my first time to post a message here. My D got accepted at Wellesley ED today, she is crazy to know that.

Anyone’s D also got in?

@wgharz - I’ll second Service Academy Forums since I’m an active member of that site - great for SA and ROTC information. I have a son at USAFA (2014) and another son who was accepted to USNA (his first choice) and USAFA last year, but ultimately decided on doing NROTC at MIT after his acceptance there. (And is loving it incidentally!). Was your son accepted at CM or is he planning on attending Pitt? My son was waitlisted at CM after his acceptance at MIT, which seemed strange to us! DH and I are both West Point grads (GO ARMY this afternoon!!) so we have the whole spectrum right now!

But I guess I’m here on the 2016 results boards so posting that son #3 received his first acceptance to Purdue yesterday, which is definitely his Plan B. Waiting on MIT (his first choice by far) and Caltech EA this coming week, along with Michigan (which I think will be cost prohibitive!), then on Stanford and Cornell RD (Stanford is a top choice; Cornell not so much). Also waiting on scholarship info from Purdue so lots going on in the next few weeks! Good luck to everyone!

ಥ_ಥ First rejection from Case Western… Eh, I feel rather indifferent. It doesn’t hurt to be rejected ironically…

D received another acceptance Ohio Northern with a nice Merit Award. She is now 4 for 4 just waiting for Michigan hopefully by the end of this week. Fingers crossed.

^oldfort…we are done as well! After making 4 in-state roadies and 2 oos during spring break of her Junior year, my D made the very wise and smart decision to choose 1 ED school (William and Mary) that she REALLY wanted to attend and was accepted. It would have been nice to see where else she could have gone, but W&M is where she wanted to be.

tiharo - congratulations to your D. D2 has 15 applications all ready to go if the news wasn’t good. She is going to withdraw her applications to UVA and UMich, both early actions. We don’t have any need to know. I am just happy to be abel to save over $1000 in application/SAT fees.

I called yesterday to make the hotel reservation on campus (Statler) for both move in day and parents weekend. They asked me for D2’s name and school she was admitted to. I guess they will make a welcome package when we arrive. It is one of the benefits in getting admitted early.

^^ Great idea, oldfort! These are our oldest 2 going of (in 2 different directions) in the fall, and I wouldn’t have thought about the hotel reservations!

Hi msandow,
Chapman’s EA applicants will be notified in early Jan. My son also applied (journalism) and it is one of his two top choices. Although the school is well-known for the arts programs, on our tour we were told that business is actually the most popular major. Have you toured the school? We were really impressed.

Oldfort, cortana, germball (!), hkmama, duffyzmom – congrats on the acceptances! davidthefat – my son is likely to be rejected by one of his picks; we don’t know yet, but my spouse and I will be secretly relieved if he doesn’t get in. You only need one happy acceptance, and you’re done.

@oldfort - probably a stupid question, but if you withdraw your application to UofM, do you get your money back? (I’m guessing no). My son also applied there but pretty much now has a reach school and safety school acceptance that he’d prefer to UM so if we could get our money back I’d gladly withdraw his application at this point! If we won’t get the money back, I’m curious not to see if he’ll get in (I’ll be very surprised if he doesn’t), but to see if he possibly gets any Financial Aid or merit (yes, I realize not likely out of state). Thanks for your help!
