marciemi - no, you would not get your money back, that’s why we waitied to send out other RD applications. We have to withdraw UofM’s application because Cornell is ED. If your son has an ED acceptance, then he should withdraw all other applications as well.

Hi there. My D is in the process of applying to 11 schools. Thus far she’s been accepted to 2, awaits Dec 20 and Jan 15 EA decisions, and 7 RD’s.

(Two of her RD’s remain incomplete. This is bound to ruin Christmas vacation.
)

D was accepted today ED to Amherst College. Whew. She was poised to finish the last two essays this week and submit the rest of her applications, but she is so relieved to be finished. Hopefully, she can relax and enjoy the rest of senior year.

Congratulations on Amherst. D2 spent a summer there, loved the school.

My D applied to 14 schools - cast a very wide net, because she is an average student.

She has been accepted at 3 out of 3 EA/rolling admissions schools thus far…so the pressure is off. We are relieved to know she will have a suitable home… and even more thrilled that she will have choices.

The rest of her apps were submitted RD, so we will wait to revisit campuses and assess options with her in the spring.

posted these acceptances on the 2016 thread: Drake Univ., William Jewell College, Colorado School of Mines, Ohio Wesleyan, Concordia Nebraska
3 of these schools have awarded some merit aid so far.
ds waiting to hear back on some additional applications that have already been submitted. planning to submit some additional RD applications. casting a wide net for favorable financial packages. the waiting is tough. we’ll also be assessing his options in the spring.

congrats on Amherst awesome school, Duke kids are getting results, I know someone applying.

D got her EA acceptance from Beloit. She is relieved to be done.

My son has 10 and says “Mommmm… no one else is applying to so many schools!”. I think I’ll point him over here, to this thread. (28?!?!?)

He has two acceptances so far, both safeties, eight to go. Four of these are for jazz so involve auditions in January. Four are rolling/EA so we should hear from them fairly soon.

**But… **

FA is a huge factor for us. He could very likely get into the schools he most wants to go to and not be able to attend because of $. And we won’t know everything until April. I just hope that we did everything we could to make his low B/high test score/musician/charming kid package as appealing as possible.

Apps were his job, FA is mine. I’ve started our taxes, got my federal PIN, ready to go with FAFSA on Jan 2nd.

So we’re in for a long haul…and I don’t see myself leaving this site anytime soon :D

ohiobassmom - do any of his schools require css profile? you can get that done now and not have to wait until January.

Thank goodness, no. S’s dad and I are separated and without getting into a long story, not having to deal with him on this is a real blessing.

I can’t believe we are just two weeks from January 1! My taxes are ready to go, as soon as I get a couple of minor forms. If i don’t have it all together by Jan 5 (first day to e-file 1099), then I’ll estimate on FAFSA and get back to it when I have everything.

I made a spreadsheet the other day of all the FAFSA codes, deadlines and any additional apps or forms needed. I think I am as ready as I can be.

D into NEU for nursing honors so proud of her and relieved!

MaCapella, congratulations to your daughter. My D in similar situation; received ED acceptance to her first choice yesterday - Kenyon College. In my D’s case, she went against advice of every adult in her life. Held out on completing RD apps to other schools on her list until she heard from Kenyon. Guess she had more insight than we did; the dream prevailed. It is done and she is over the moon!

Ho ohiobassmon - re the fasfa, they have a phone help line and they really are extremely helpful. They talked me through a couple of sections, friendly and courteous.

Congratulations Collcon01! May I ask how your daughter was notified of her acceptance at Kenyon? We were told that letters were mailed yesterday. It’s hard to wait! Thanks.

D got the traditional big fat envelope with a purple thumbs up on it via USPS. I don’t know if she was also notified on the goto.kenyon.com site; she was so excited she forgot to log in and look. The Kenyon website indicates letters were to mailed on Dec. 15, but since my D got hers on that date I wonder if it is because we live in Ohio. Perhaps her envelope arrived earlier than those sent out of state - ? I know how hard it is to wait and I feel for you and your kid. Fingers (and toes) crossed!

tennismom1 – A girl at my kids’ school got her Kenyon acceptance yesterday as well. Not sure of the delivery method. We are also in Ohio.

collconf01–My D was the same with Beloit. In early October, she made a compelling case to wait and do any RD applications until after she heard from Beloit. I’m relieved that it worked out. She is now wandering around the house going “Guess what-- I’m going to Beloit.”

Thanks GeminiMom. We are on the east coast so I think we will end up hearing from Kenyon on Monday or Tuesday. This will be a long weekend…

jmnva06 – That’s a happy story. Congratulations to your D! Beloit is a wonderful school.
