Class of 2016 Results: Celebrate, Discuss, Support Here

Our DD was accepted at Princeton yesterday. A very happy girl!

Congratulations, Sewhappy! My son was also accepted. :-)

DD was accepted to Brandeis yesterday via email. It was pretty neat they way they did it. They sent an email with a link to thier application status page. When she clicked on the page and logged in their was a Congratulatory message. Nice.

sbjdorlo – Congratulations to your son (and his proud family)!!

Celebrating in our house today! D received her acceptance to University of Michigan. It was her 1st choice and she is thrilled. I’m thrilled because all of the U Mich gifts purchased for Christmas don’t have to be returned :-)

sbjdorlo - I knew your son would get in many elite places. Princeton seems like a great fit for him, but I’m sure he’ll have many choices in addition. Congrats.

You too sewhappy. Was this the result of the spawning salmon essay? ;)

Thank-you, bovertine. You’re very kind. It’s hard to think of my son across the country but if that’s where he ultimately desires to go, we’ll support him.

Spawning salmon, eh? Nice! Instead of additional info, on the Common App. my son wrote an essay, “Calculus is Like Sucking My Thumb.” :-)

Congratulations to all on these wonderful acceptances !

DS accepted to Pomona College this week. He’s elated, as are we! The excitement seems to be giving him extra energy to push through finals! Overjoyed for our young man. :)

Congratulations to everyone celebrating good news just now!

Wow. Just read through all of the acceptances! Congratulations to everyone!!!

I was accepted into the United States Military Academy, at West Point and Harvard College… I’m not exactly sure which one is best for me, but I want to experience West Point and I believe the education will be just as good at either institution… thoughts?

Wow, journeyman94, those are some wonderful schools! You have a difficult choice ahead of you. If you aiming towards a Military career and want that support, it seems West Point would be the place for you. How supportive is Harvard of the military? If you want a great education with plans to either join the military later or no plans to join the military, then Harvard seems the place for you…but I’m no expert. :-)

Congratulations!

@Journeyman - definitely some diverse schools! Can’t help much with Harvard (although I have a son at MIT who’s in ROTC with a lot of kids from there), but my husband and I are both West Point grads and are liaison officers for the academy so if you’d like to PM, I’d be glad to answer any questions you have. I’m assuming you’ve found serviceacademyforums.com - that’s probably the best way to get a lot of insight from current cadets. Read the whole “Questions Thread” under the West Point forums which dates back a few years and is very helpful about everything you could think of - from the critical (how many grads have died in combat?) to the mundane (do they serve skim milk in the mess hall?).

Congrats on both schools, lots of luck, and let me know if I can be of any help!

Daughter accepted ED to her dream school - Mount Holyoke. Yay - we are done with the application process. She applied to 4 schools (1 ED, 3 EA) and was accepted at all - Mills College, Willamette, Agnes Scott. Mills had the most generous Merit Aid package, but MHC had a generous grant.

Accepted: Xavier University, Loyola University-New Orleans, Indiana University, University of Indianapolis, Marymount University, Valparaiso University, Marian University, Hanover College

Still Waiting: Loyola University-Chicago, Tulane University, University of Dayton, Butler University

Has anyone here been to any of these schools or have students there and have any useful information to share? I am waiting to visit the campuses until I hear back from all of the schools.

aind-55 we know someone who got full tuition to Butler for music/theater and another to Dayton(grad school) for music education. Also I visited Loyola New Orleans and if you want strong music, their music program is much stronger than Tulane’s - however Tulane is stronger for the sciences. They are right next door to each other in the Garden District which is beautiful. Both draw students from around the country.

S2 was accepted ED to Vassar! Only heard of one other Vassar ED acceptance so far - anyone else out there?

accepted to UNCW :D

D accepted to Clemson with 60k scholarship. Still waiting on word about the honors college but I would hope if they are giving her that kind of money that she got in to that as well.

Chemusic -
DD just put in he RD application to Vassar and 8 other schools. She only applied EA to one school (Dckinson), and will not hear until Feb 1st. I thought that was late! What instrument does your DS play or major does he hope to pursue at Vassar! And by the way - congratulations to his acceptance! He must be thrilled! That is one of my DD first choices.

Congratulations to everyone on their children’s acceptances! My DD has applied to Dickinson (EA), UDelaware, Bowdoin, Brown, Middlebury, Amherst College, Hamilton, Vassar and as a safety UMe Honors program. Haven’t heard from any yet. Think it’s odd that Dickinson 's EA decisions don’t go out until Feb 1? Anyone aware of this or have further information?
