My daughter will graduate high school in 2016. I hear both the SAT and ACT will have major changes soon but I'm not clear whether they will happen before or after she needs to take the test. I also hear the first class who has to take the new version of the test, will have their scores very "discounted" in their applications because schools won't know what a good or excellent score is. Any information on this? Is it worth taking the tests before the change and will the schools look at these older scores once the test changes?

For us Class of '16-ers, these changes won’t be relevant! They happen in the spring of 2016, which is when we’ll be done with taking the SAT/ACT. We’ll be the last class to go through the old/normal SAT and PSAT.

When I did my research it appears the SAT just recently said that the changes won’t appear to the class of 2016 but it was not apparent about the ACT changes.

I am unaware of any major changes coming to the ACT except that sometime in 2015, it will be possible to take a computer version of the test on-line but that version is supposed to incorporate the exisitng test not creat a new test. Also, that will not replace the usual paper test in 2015 but just be an alternative that some may be able to utilize.

Like Almondjoy7 said, the SAT change will not apply to us. The new SAT will first be in Spring of 2016, and by then we would have already applied to colleges. Don’t know about the ACT changes though!

I actually hadn’t heard of this and I will graduate class of 2016. I heard that my school in Florida for next school year will make us take End Of Course exams for every class; which I find pretty ridiculous and waste of so much school time because of all of the testing that could happen
