I applied last week, and I was wondering how many weeks did it take until you found out you were accepted? Like a month, 6 weeks?

I just can’t wait any longer I want to know if I was accepted, it’s my number one school!

applied in october, got in a few days ago! Penn state is my backup, but honors might be a top choice If I get in…

Currently taking AP Spanish 5 (I took AP Spanish 4 last year - at my school you take AP 4 and 5 before you take the AP test), AP US Government, AP Comparative Government, and AP Literature and Composition.
ECs: Too many to list. I’m an officer in five clubs and a member of approx. 50 bajillion, I have a part-time job, and I’ve been published in the Philadelphia Inquirer a few times. I doubt Penn State admissions places too much emphasis on ECs, though.
My essay was awesome, but I doubt the admissions officers even looked at it since they had so many applications to get through.

It’s one of my safety schools but it’s still nice to know that I’m in somewhere! My parents are pushing for me to apply to SHC, but I’m not sure if I should even bother - it’s SO competitive and my brain is SO imbalanced. I’ve got my fingers crossed for my ED school, but PSU is certainly an option!

My status changed to coming days:
SAT: 1760
GPA: 3.27
Extracurriculars: a fair amount
Honors/AP: 5
I really hope I get in!!

Found out that I got into the College of Communications today! It’s my backup but I’ll know in December if I got into my #1 choice!

Wooo accepted to UP for International Politics. White make OOS, 28 ACT, 106 weighted GPA, 6/400 in my class, good recs and essay. Very happy! Definitely considering PSU. Now for Schreyer’s!

nyjetsknicks: can i ask your stats? applied to Comm also.

So with all these charges and allegations, does this change anyone’s perception of the school or if you’ll go or not?

Absolutely not. The football and athletics departments are the “bad guys” right now. I honestly think it’s a bit dramatic to say that this tarnishes the entire school’s reputation. Regardless of this whole situation, it Penn state still has awesome academics programs, a great atmosphere and tons of proud alumni/corporate recruiters.

Completely agree med, I think the media is completely blowing this situation out of proportion. This is football and athletics, not about the academics of the school.

Exactly. I don’t know anyone (including my dad) who went to penn state and didn’t love it. Sure, negative publicity is never good, but educated people should be able to realize that it’s not the end of the world for PSU. It’s still my top choice!

Everyone I know loves it. One of my teachers is friendly with a professor there. He loves it, and so does everyone else. I know there’s negative publicity. I just people don’t correlate the football program and possibly Spanier with the whole university.

Woohoo got my acceptance letter yesterday to Smeal!
GPA: 4.2
ACT: 30
from Illinois

packalldwy: when did you apply?

Hopefully everything blows over eventually!

Congrats packalldwy!! I got into Smeal last week and I’m still so excited.
