Class of 2017 acceptance rate?

Hello, I am a current high school junior, I will be applying to GW this coming application cycle (for hopeful admittance to the class of 2018). I was wondering if anyone happened to know what the acceptance percentage for this past cycle (class of 2017).

Thank you for your responses!

Well my acceptance letter said that they accepted 2,350 out of 22,000 applicants.

Whoa! That seems really low! Doesn’t GW typically have around a 33% acceptance rate?

According to the wiki page GW has 10,813, so that would mean each class has about 2500 students. Given in previous years GW has accepted around 6000+ students (schools usually accept more students than they have seats since not all accepted students matriculate) I find it hard to believe GW all of a sudden became that much more selective.

GW’s acceptance rate is about 32%.

woah woah DRAWESOME12 that is simply not right. There are around 22000 applicants vying for a little over 7000 spots. Given GW’s yield rate, about 38% of accepted students commit to GW. The acceptance rate thought to be surely jeopardized by the Ranking scandal, has pretty much stayed the same. I think they said they had a record number of applications, and keep in mind 22K and 7K are estimates from previous years. Until they officially release statistics about the Class of 2017, keep these numbers in mind.

I’m just putting what my letter said.

I agree with you all that the acceptance rate is around 32-36 %, but the acceptance letter did say that 2,350 applicants were chosen out of 22,000. That’s around 11%, so I don’t know what the deal is.

To me it sounds like either they meant to say that 22000 people applied for an incoming freshman class of 2350 (meaning that they accepted more but only 2350 will matriculate).

OR perhaps they meant to say that they accepted 2350 for regular decision out of 22000 total applicants (meaning they accepted more for early decision?).

[Admissions rate at three-year standstill - The GW Hatchet](http://www.gwhatchet.com/2013/04/04/admissions-rate-at-three-year-standstill/)

That 2350 number was students enrolled last year i believe. Definitely is not the acceptance rate.

2,350 out of 22,000 is the RD Acceptance rate afaik, the Hatchet article quotes the Vice Provost saying that the admit rate is 33% so eventhough the actual profile isn’t out that’s as credible as it can get.
