Class of 2017 Admission Acceptance Rate

Does anyone know the percentage of applicants NYU accepted this year. Applications went up
12%:
NYU Receives Record Number of Applications Across Its Global Network of Campuses

Most colleges have released the data but not NYU. http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2013/04/15/education/thechoice-2013-acceptance-rates.html/?_r=0

Anecdotally, I heard 30% acceptance rate.

Acceptance rate for all undergrad schools 35%
Number Application 42,807
Number Accepted 14,998
Number Enrolled 5,141

Unfortunately it doesn’t show how many applicants for each school to figure out acceptance rate per school.

last time when NYU toured my city. The admission officer said around 30% , and they barely read through each application properly.
EDIT :It was last week

Ognopgod, Thanks for posting but those are LAST years numbers. I am looking for the Class of 2017 or what NYU will call the 2013-14 stats.

Jack2018, I find it difficult to believe that an NYU admissions officer will say they barely read each application. I assume that’s your view based upon the numbers.

So, rough numbers: At Weekend on the Square, Shawn Abbott said they had 48,000 applications this year and made offers to about 30 percent, expecting to have roughly 5000 attend.

Some schools within NYU have lower acceptance rates, though, as you probably already know.

He also was exceedingly proud of the fact that the admissions officers actually did read every application.

Thanks, UvaHoo87 that’s what I was looking for.

Though we might not find out the acceptance rate for each school, i think for Poly’s acceptance rate is probably the highest out of all other schools but most people who applied to poly had high SATs and GPA. Last years was like 67%? I can only imagine this years being 50-60% because of more applications coming in now. after this year, it will get just as selective as other schools on average being around 30-40%.

Akrparent ,hi, this what she said and i quote “Yeah, This year we had a lot more applications then we expected, means that the admission rate would be lower” One person then asked , “So how much lower?” The admission answer then said , hmm, we are still in the process, but around 30%. We barely had enough time to read through all those applications so keep in mind that other then your teacher and guidance consouller’s letter, only attach one more from outside of the school. More then that we wont and will not have time to read through them" and bunch of other stuff. Those are her words, not mine. And i did attend this event at Toronto that was hosted by NYU.

I was at WOTS Stern presentation today and dean Menon said Stern received 8500 applicants this year for a class of 500. i am guessing the yield is around 40% so that puts the Stern acceptance rate around 15%.

^^ She said they DID read through all those applications, barely in time. They won’t read additional unreqested material.

Application and admission numbers reveal another record-breaking year

http://nyunews.com/2013/04/29/admission-2/

According to nyunews.com, roughly 31% were admitted. Since they mention a total of around 14,700 students being admitted, the exact percentage would be about 30.3%.
