My son applied EA to Babson but was deferred. He just received an email from admissions stating his application decision will be posted online on March 10, 2013 @ 3pm.

I applied regular decision and got the same email today. What were your sons stats if you don’t mind me asking?

I applied RD and got the email too. It’s kind of weird that they would give us a definitive date and time?

I’m curious about your sons stats too!

They did the same for ED don’t worry. Good luck!

Today’s the big day!!! Get excited :)

Yeah it’s gonna be a stretch. If my parents are only willing to pay 20k per year, that means I’ll have to find $120k over 4 years. Hoping Bentley will have more to offer!

Reflection and General Comments: Congrats to everyone who got in. I personally think my SAT/ACT scores were probably my weak spot in my application, but I think Babson has a very holistic approach to its admissions and looks at your extra-circulars and essays. Make sure to be specialized and excel and be passionate about a few things rather than have a huge bucket list. Again, congrats to everyone else who got in as well.

Reflection and General Comments:Happy to be accepted, but I’m curious about the scholarships…when do we find out if we got any merit aid? Probably won’t attend.

I’m curious about Merit Aid too… I kind of forgot about that! That would be the only way I could go, and based on past years posts on here, I might be able to get 1/2 tuition.

Or maybe they show the merit with financial aid? Ahhh. This is killing me. An extra $15k per year would make this possible for my family.

Accepted.

Babson is not yet my first choice. I am 100% set on business and I know I want to be an entrepreneur. However, I’m hoping I’ll get into Carnegie Mellon or Emory. I’m just afraid of the low GPAs at Babson (I may want an MBA later if being an entrepreneur doesn’t go according to plan).

Anyway, the financial aid seems to be on par with the estimates that most of the good private schools gave me. 43.6k in grants (including pell grant), 5.5k in loans, and 2.2k from work study so the net is around 51k. I don’t really count loans though.

Overall babson will cost me 16kish/year. side: Drexel will cost me 38k a year, what a ripoff

GPA: 3.3 UW/ 4.0 W (upwards trend). Took all the hardest classes possible except for senior year in a pretty good school.
SAT: Math 770, CR 780, W 700.
ECs: Pretty good. Jazz band (alto, tenor, soprano sax). JV soccer, track for four years and ran at Penn Relays but Hamstring injury deterred me from competing much.

Does anyone know about the Merit scholarships? If I get a sizable one Babson will become my number one choice. Even though I got a lot of financial aid, my family is in a tough financial situation.

Ugh, this is frustrating! We were told we would have to pay $10k a year, and that turned out wayyy off. We have an income of negative $3,000, but since we have $2 million in assets, FAFSA thinks we are rolling in money.
