Class of 2017 discussion!

I got accepted the day after I applied. I found that kind of unusual, but I guess it happens and I was very happy about it. They already had all my supplements and everything, though.
3.9 UW GPA, a bunch of AP/Honors classes, mediocre extracurriculars, a good essay, and an SAT score of 1800.

Hey guys, I got accepted and I got an invitation to experience Temple day. Does anyone know what’s going on at Experience Temple Day? is it mandatory and do I need to bring anything?

Experience Temple Day is an event for accepted student. Temple will have a welcome session, then a mini campus tour when you split into your colleges. Every college has a “brief” information session. (They are fairly long) Then, it’s lunch time where you get a time slot to go to lunch. After lunch you are on your own there are a bunch of info sessions (highly recommend the “just for students”). You can also visit the dorm halls to see a demo room and campus tours are provided throughout the day. Although I do not think it is mandatory, I highly recommend going.

Accepted last night into the school of engineering.
GPA: 2.7
SAT: 2150 (1430)
ACT: 32

How long did it take you guys to find out if you were accepted or not? My Sat scores got there on January 2nd, and my transcripts were downloaded last Wednesday.

How long does it take for them to give out scholarship awards and financial aids? I got the acceptance letter but there is nothing about awards and financial aids. My GPA is a 3.7 and SAT’s is 1680. From what I have researched, their financial aid office isn’t proficient with their job and I’m a bit worried that they have forgotten about me :</p>

I was just accepted to the school of science and technology

GPA: 3.79 UW 4.49 W
SAT: 700M 800CR 690W
Percentile Rank: 93rd

With a fair but not overloaded schedule (All honors for the academic courses, four APs by graduation- BC Calc (5), SPanish Language (5), Studio art, and Art History) with a lot of Art classes and some advanced math courses)
Too many, but not too scattered extra curriculars.

And a risky (but good) essay. I think. I wrote about how I completely lack attention to detail and the ability to proofread and how I make lots of stupid mistakes in math class, but I still love it because of the creativity involved in solving problems and such. I guess I expect to have gotten in anyway, but we’ll see how the essay effected things when I get scholarship info soon. I’m waiting for the mail to come along ASAP

I almost applied to tyler but I changed my mind suddenly and applied to science/technology on a bit of a whim

I just got accepted to the business school!

Accepted! applied at the end of august
DON’T GIVE UP HOPE!

super excited!!

just accepted to school of media and communication with merit scholarship. So happy.

Accepted into College of Science & Technology
GPA: 3.5 W / 3.3 UW
SAT: 1520

Does anyone know how good the financial aid at Temple is? And for mid year reports, does Temple look semester grades, including midterm grades?

@eisbar, I think the financial aid is pretty good for a public school but I might just have a disproportionately good view of it from seeing CCers (and myself). Most public schools don’t give much aid unless it’s need-based. Are you taking about merit-based or need-based aid? To be honest, I wouldn’t expect to get a huge scholarship with that SAT score but you’ll probably get some money.

If they get your mid-year report, they’ll look at it. Whether they get your final grades so far or quarter and mid-term grades depends on the format your school submits.

@billyme Thanks! Does Temple want us to send mid-year reports? Or do they want the final transcript after we graduate? I read the little pamphlet/book I got with my acceptance letter and apparently we should send our final transcripts as soon as we get them and I wasn’t sure if I should request my guidance counselor to submit them now or wait till June.

@eisbar I do believe I read that we only need to send our final grades for Temple. Some schools send a mid-year report electronically though and I think that’s fine. Still, I wouldn’t go out of you way to send it to them once you’ve been accepted unless you think it’ll help your chances for financial aid or something. Good luck!

Did anyone else file their FAFSA yet? I did so on Jan. 15th and sent it to Temple, and then updated it on the 5th and sent it to the school once again. My portal doesn’t say anything about it though. I have not put my deposit in.
