This forum has been a little dead lately after all the exciting ED notifications...so I decided to create the Early Evaluation thread! Personally I've been feeling a LOT of anxiety about the impending results of the EE round, and I don't think I'm the only one. Vent, express your love for Swellesley, have your questions answered, get to know other CC'ers who are applying EE, or just simply lurk. Feel free to post about anything.

Is anyone else who applied EE missing a conformation email? My common app says that my application was downloaded on the 13th, but I haven’t received an email.

I think you should email the admissions office! That’s what I’m doing for one of my other schools that didn’t send me one.

Wellesley is my top choice reach!
Since reading other threads I feel like my chances aren’t good.
I really love this school and I am so nervous to turn in my application!!

I contacted the office and they said that their server malfunctioned last week and that they’re sending out emails again sometime this week. Anyone that didn’t get one should just wait untill Friday to check with the admissions office.

I’m applying EE to Wellesley too! I visited during Discover Wellesley Weekend in the fall, and I loved it!

@AcademicAmy

That’s how I totally felt too! But then I realized that there is a voluntary response bias on CC. Only the extremes would feel the need to check CC (aka many top top top students who worry about college). I definitely think you shouldn’t base your judgement of your application off of a sample of merely 30-40 students. Getting into college isn’t as hard as CC makes it be.

Agree with the above – keep in mind that CC and other forums like it attract the top students with the top scores. Sample sizes are relatively small here though, so if you think you can craft an application that the adcom will love, then do it. Don’t let someone on an online forum discourage you from applying to a school you love.

I’m curious, how did you guys “discover” and fall in love with Wellesley?
Personally, I know a lot of Wendies, and I’ve been researching Wellesley since sophomore year. I think the community and the quality of the academics there really drew me in.

Personally, I didn’t even consider the school until my counselor mentioned it. My stats are very low for Wellesley (3.3 UW GPA junior year) but I got deferred from my first choice (Vassar) and figured this was worth a shot!

I also did a paid focus group for Wellesley at the beginning of the year to help them better advertise their school, so that really helped me see what they want prospective students to focus on and things.

Wellesley had shown up often on my college online searches and because of that, I began to research the school more. I visited the website, looked at the forums here on CC, etc. and I liked the school, so I put it on my list, but it wasn’t at the top.

Then I got an email about Discover Wellesley Weekend and the opportunity to apply for a travel grant. I applied and got the travel grant and in October I visited. At one of the sessions, there was a student/alumna panel where they talked about the school, the opportunities they got because they went to Wellesley, the community, and much more. That was when I realized how much I love the school and how strong the sense of community is there. Hearing them say great things about the school and then actually seeing it with my own eyes was awesome. I also loved my host and her friends and the other prospies I met there.

Any future applicants reading this, try and go to Discover Wellesley Weekend!! You can get a travel grant, if you apply, and I had a great time!

Hey everyone!
Submitting my application right now… So nervous!
I’m sure you all are too
Happy New Year!

I’m so nervous I won’t get accepted. I hope we all get in! After all, we’re the ones that are worried enough to be on CC ;D

Hey! I went to Discover Wellesley Weekend, too!!! It was great (: And I applied EE, but I think I messed up my application… first off, I attached my Why Wellesley essay as a docx. file instead of doc. I’m new to Mac and have botched a couple projects in the past month because of my mistake of saving in the wrong format. Does anyone know if the adcom will be able to view it? I am pretty sure I clicked View Document when I uploaded but I’ve submitted essays to other schools and can’t remember Wellesley’s specifically

Also, last week I noticed that my School Forms section was still red, so I contacted my counselor and he admitted that he thought my deadline for recs was January 15th. I asked him to write my rec in early October so I was really upset that he waited until the last minute, but I feel I cannot contact admissions to let them know what happened because it was also my responsibility to keep bothering him about it. I constantly asked him if he had started my papers at the end of November, but I thought we were both on the same page in terms of deadline >< Anyway, he asked me if I wanted him to rush a rec or get together notes for him to write one for January 15th as he intended, and since I am applying ED2 somewhere else for a Jan. 15th deadline, I asked him to write the best one possible for the ED2 school. This means my School Forms section would be two weeks late, and I am worried Wellesley won’t look at this kindly :(

Oh dear. I feel like a wreck.

@kanjea11

I dont know how to answer the second part, but I think the docx is fine!
That is how I uploaded mine, and it said it was okay! I was also able to preview it so I don’t think that will be an issue.

So i just checked common app because you got me a little paranoid and it says on upload document section "The file cannot exceed 500 KB in size and should be in .doc, .docx, .wpd, .rtf, .xls, .xlsx, .pdf, or .txt format. "

Hope this helps!

Good luck to us EE girls!

@Academic Amy, okay, I feel ten times better! Thanks so much! Definitely good luck to us all (:

i’m applying to wellesley ee. gl to all

@kanjea11- I think your school forms situation should be okay! As long as you get them in ASAP, probably before January 15th.

I’m having an issue with one of my recs and I emailed my regional admissions rep at almost every school I’m applying to to explain my situation, and they all said it was fine as long as I get it in soon. It’ll work out!

I’m curious…how were your interviews?

My alumna interviewer was EXTREMELY enthusiastic about Swells. She also talked about how the alumna network is like “an Old Girl’s Club”.

I wasn’t able to schedule an interview in time but when I went to Discover Wellesley Weekend, they talked a lot about the alumna network (I think they call it the W Network) and it seems awesome!
