Class of 2017 - How Many Colleges Did You Apply To/Are You Applying To?

13!

Kill. Me. Now.

I’ll apply to 1 more (NYU), if I don’t get into Brandeis ED. All of them except Brandeis and NYU are safeties or matches. I’ve been accepted to 3 so far.

@1Rachel94 Where have you gotten in so far. Applied to 10. 1 ED, 2 EA and holding off on a possible EDII.

S has 15 in the queue. We started with a plan for him to apply to 6-7 and then his mom (ahem, that’s me) got nervous (okay, maybe slightly paranoid). He applied ED to a school that’s tough to get into, and we also hit as many EAs as possible. So eight have been submitted at this point, and if he doesn’t get into the ED school, the other seven are ready to go. (Transcripts, scores, etc. are all set; we will just need to submit the application payments. Unfortunately, most of the EA decisions come back after the RD deadlines of the other schools.)

3 reaches
2 high matches (or is this low? I always forget the jargon)
3 matches
4 low matches
3 safeties (a local one was one of the last schools added to the list)

A number of safer bets were added after I started to have nightmares about his not getting into any of his schools. I downplayed it with him and started casually talking about how it would be great if he had an assortment of really great options, and since he’s pretty easy-going, he went along with it without fuss. He thinks I’m a little nutty anyway, so he’s used to it. I will say, though, that while I’m slightly embarrassed that the number got as high as it did, I feel much better and I no longer worry about it at night! (He never worried about it at night, but I quietly worried enough for the both of us! LOL)

Three of the schools don’t/didn’t require an application fee (2 of which were waived for early applicants) and another is just $30.

Northwestern College (it’s a small Christian college in IA), Penn State, and Mercy College. I should hear back from Brandeis Saturday. I should know about Pace, UMass, and St. John’s very soon.

I ended up applying to 11 and as many early action as they offered!

Been accepted to Texas Christian, but haven’t heard back from anywhere else :(

About 12?
U of Washington (Seattle)
UC Santa Cruz
UC berekley
UCLA
UC San Diego
UC Santa Barbra
UC irvine
Boston university
San Francisco state university
San Diego state university
Cal poly Pomona
Cal poly SLO
If I didn’t get in Boston bc I am doing early decision. I prob apply more

I applied to 15!

4 safeties
6 matches
5 reaches

8 EA
7 RD

I’ve heard from 3 so far and have been accepted to all 3. But they’re safeties lol.

Wow, so far I’ve applied to…drumroll please…one school. Georgetown EA. If I get in, I won’t apply to any more; if not, I’ll apply to 4 others: Brown (reach), GW (low match), American (safety) and FSU (safety).

2 schools which seems ridiculous compared to all of you guys.

University of Texas at Austin
Texas A&M

Auto admitted to both, declined A&M. I’ve been admitted to Plan II Honors and Computer Science at UT which was my dream school so I’m all decided and ready to graduate.

Thirteen colleges is a lot to apply to, but if you’re not sure where you want to go and just want to make absolute you’ll get into a college, it’s fine.

I applied to 5 schools:

Chico State/safety
San Diego State/match
Long Beach State/match
Cal Poly SLO/match but kind of a reach also
UC Santa Barbara/match but kind of a reach also

I won’t be hearing back from any of these colleges until March. The anticipation is killing me!

And Johns Hopkins and university of Chicago early actions, I didn’t put there bc I thought I didn’t get in but I got in!!! I am going to johns hopkinssssss!!! With full ride!

I’m only applying to six.
University of Iowa (already accepted)
University of Rochester
University of Pennsylvania (deferred ED)
Columbia
Yale
Harvard

My daughter is doing 15:

1 top Ivy
1 top LAC
7 top private (not including that impossible Ivy)
3 UCs
3 safety

so far 2 safeties (EA) accepted her with scholarships.

It is increasingly difficult to get into any of the T25 now. 3.9/2200 is good but not a guarantee in any of the T25.

9 schools. I’m an international student with financial need, so they’re all reaches. I actually wanted to apply to more, but my parents didn’t want to pay so much to send scores from standardized tests.

I had originally intended to apply to one school SCEA and 20 schools RD. However, I got into my SCEA school, so I’m accepting their admission and not finishing any of my other applications. :)

I am a Virginian so I applied to all Virginia public universities.

I applied (and was already accepted) to Radford University- which is my safety school.
I’ve also applied to James Madison University (my first choice), Virginia Tech University, and Christopher Newport University.

So that’s 4 in all. I feel like an underachiever compared to everyone above who is applying to like 20 schools haha
