on Pomona, nothing out yet on admit rate that I can find. Only info I’m aware of is ~7100 apps in total, which is down from 7456 last year. There were 966 admits last year…if they admitted the same number this year, the resultant admit rate out of 7100 would be 13.6%. I suspect, however, if they wanted to keep their admit rate a little lower, they would have admitted fewer, relying more on the waitlist this year and perhaps taking more in ED2. My guess for their ultimate rate after waitlist acceptances: 13.3% (20 fewer admits than 13.6%), but I will defer to xiggi & others who understand the nuances of admissions tactics better than me.

I am surprised that Pomona did not release their numbers yet. Or, I may have missed them altogether. I would expect them to come in at a number below PC’s estimate.

Amherst did share that their RD number is 11.5 percent, which could help defining the total rate with the correct ED numbers.

You know the acceptance rate for GW is not 10.6%. It’s a way to look impressive by saying the number of seats in the class rather than the actual acceptances. Their yield is not 100%, it’s probably closer to like 25.

If you did any research into this at depth, you would know that the person inflating SAT scores was one person, who subsequently left the College. The College has faced enormous unwanted controversy over the SAT scandal. Do you really think that they would risk the value and reputation of CMC the year following the SAT scandal? If anything, CMC is probably one of the most honest schools in terms of admissions this year around, because it is placing an extremely high standard on itself with regards to admissions transparency.

I know most schools admit more than matriculate, and don’t take many off the waitlist, but wouldn’t a more honest acceptance number be produced after all movement on the waitlist is over? Because, technically, if you take someone off the waitlist didn’t you admit them?

I know there is also controversy regarding Spring term admits that some posters always talk about.

Just talking in general here, not about any particular school or schools.
