WV <= 212

Correction to the above post - the highest cutoff has not been confirmed at 223. 223 Made it in DC/NJ,so anyone at or above 223 has made it- but we don’t know the bottom cutoff for DC/NJ YET.

From Art:
http://www.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/national-merit-semifinalist-cutoffs/

Update 8/29 11:40PM EDT
** Correction
The highest cutoff nationally has been confirmed via a principal at NO MORE THAN 223. I misstated it earlier this evening as equal to 223. It’s still possible that it will be lower. No students at the school with 221/222, so we can’t use it to establish the cutoff. I should know better.

@rhbgames - - My daughter has the same score in California! Is your son from a school with a large number of SF’s each year? (If so, was wondering whether he knows whether 221 is the cut-off or whether it might be yet lower . . . I know there are many others closely watching this site!)

@PicoLA - I don’t know for sure, but I don’t think that there are too many SFs in our school - it is a standard public high school. Sorry for the lack of info here.

@rhbgames - - Congratulations! My daughter is also from a school with few SF’s each year . . . I hope that the scores continue to go lower for the other students and parents anxiously waiting for news!

Anyone hear anything new from TX?

Update- I just called the Nat’l Merit phone number & the said they will no longer give any information including cutoff scores (darn it- looking for Colorado!) They said no information will be given until September 14th.

As a side note, my kid’s CO public HS just announced 22 NM Semi-finalists in this year’s senior class of 500 but they won’t notify even the parents. I’m waiting to hear about my son since he got a 1450 (217.) Anyone else know something?

Someone in the other CC board posted that 213 made it in MS #6240. And possibly also a 212

For those who already know that they have progressed to semi-finalist…congratulations! Have you been given the application paperwork? If so, can you tell us what the essay prompt is? My son would like to kill two birds with one stone and use the same essay for both his college application and the NMF app if the essay prompts are similar in any way. That’s assuming he makes semi-finalist. We haven’t heard from the principal yet. Thanks!
