First four with merit; awaiting the rest. Our daughter knows that she must have aid that brings school in range of in-state tuition. Six more to hear from.

Just registered my account. I have been reading this site lately. So far my son has been accepted all 5 that he got: U Chicago, Northwestern, Washington St Louis, Case Western, and BU. The last 3 were his safety schools. He is still waiting for 8 more. He is hoping for Princeton, which deferred him from earlier. I am really really nervous about this whole thing. I am sure all of your parents here are the same. Just curious if anyone knows where to get some merit scholarships?

right You must be very proud of your son.
He will get princeton too!
Can you pl furnish his statistical data (scores etc.,)
Are you an International?

Our daughter has done fairly well in the admissions process overall, but Oxy has emerged as one of the top picks. She is in an IB Diploma program. One girl applied ED and got in.Two others heard on Saturday; our daughter did not. Hoping it is just the mail. The other two girls have slightly higher stats, but neither of them plans to attend. One is a National Merit semifinalist. Our daughter spent the night and attended classes…she is the only one out of the three who wrote about her visit to Oxy (after arriving from a snow storm). Here are her stats: 3.7 (UW), 4.6 (W), 33 (ACT composite) and 35 (writing). Captain (swimming), state qualifier-swimming, Swim Coach in summer… Co-President (Invisible Children),VP (National Honor Society), Spanish National Honor Society, Executive Council-Student Government, Volunteer—local Children’s Hospital…singer- regional multicultural choir…did some other sports as well, but not as seriously as swimming. The other girls swim too. We are from out-of-state, if it matters.

Worried that they won’t accept all three…hoping something comes in the mail today…we are actually out-of-town.

swimsoc - you cannot compare your D to anyone else. I know it’s tempting to, but your D is your D. The key phrase in your paragraph is that the other two girls have higher stats. That alone (of course) gives them the advantage. Your daughter sounds smart and accomplished. I’m sure she’ll land somewhere where she’ll have a fabulous experience.

Well, my anxiety aside…large priority mail at home from Oxy and the swim coach called yesterday. We are on Spring Break, but it also looks good for Oxy. Thanks LaurenDog for your support. Here is where our daughter is today:

Acceptances: Lake Forest, Willamette, U of Puget Sound, Whitman, Oxy (assuming),Colby, Bucknell, U of CO. Rejected: Carleton. Awaiting: Vanderbilt, Davidson, and Dartmouth.

She has some great choices…main decision will be financial. She is totally relieved with acceptances.

S applied to 8 schools. So far heard from 3: Yes from SUNY Geneseo with great financial aid, no from Duke, yes from Emory - have to wait until tomorrow to see what FA they are offering. Tomorrow will learn 3 more results.

It is a nerve wracking time - good luck to everyone - hope you get in your favorites.

S (Amphear) got a no, no, and no (not unexpectedly) from Brown, Dartmouth and Princeton. Waiting for answers from University of Rochester and College of Wooster. So far he has a choice of Emory or SUNY Geneseo with good financial aid from both.

DD got into 11 of her schools. She was accepted into Brown, Dartmouth, Penn, Pomona, Claremont, Rice, Williams, Swarthmore, U of Miami, Pepperdine and Emory. She didn’t get into Yale and was waitlisted for Mudd.

This will be a tough decision between some amazing schools.

Daughter accepted to RISD, MICA, Watkins, & two others - will Definitely be attending RISD!!

Just a friendly reminder - PLEASE - as soon as you & your child make a final decision - let admissions offices at other schools know that you are declining their offers - don’t just wait for the deadline to pass - let’s show some compassion to those that were waitlisted!!!

The long wait is over. The finally tally: yes from NYU, RISD, SVA,USD,Fordham, Northeastern,Pepperdine and Miami. No from UCLA and Berkley.
Congrats to all.

This was kids 4 and 5 (the last) for us, but never had to do two at once. What a year, and especially what a week! S got yeses from Manhattan, Pitt, UMBC, Drexel, Temple, WPI, waitlisted at Lafayette. D got yeses from Goucher, Clark, Oberlin, Carleton, Swarthmore, and Macalester, nos from Brown and Wesleyan, waitlisted at Middlebury and Vassar. We’ll all have a celebration, then plan road trips for April! Congrats to everyone on their successes.

Hey there! No, my daughter will definitely be attending RISD - she got the E-mail yesterday!!! I was just sort of responding to the post above my previous one. The only way to get off the wait list is for others to decline their offers. Many schools provide a form to return. I am so thankful right now, I just can’t imagine waiting until the end of April or the beginning of May to find out if you are off the dreaded wait list!!

We are down to our final two - Lehigh and Miami. These have been my DS’ top two choices all along. Has a great package from Miami. If Lehigh’s is do-able, we will visit again (haven’t been there since soph year). He was accepted today but we have to wait for FA in the mail. We are so close to decision time! So exciting!

LINYMOM-how exciting for you! D was accepted to Fordham this week and its down to that and Manhattan. Both FA packages are great, but right now she’s on her school trip to Paris/London so we can’t discuss anything until she gets back!
Good luck in his decision.

So my son just got accepted and he is excited (we are too). As a parent, I wonder about the atmosphere at Amherst. I went to Penn back in the 80s and there were many “uptight” types at the school. What is the “vibe” on this campus? Intense, laid back, fun, serious, something in between? Would be nice to hear someone gauge the stress level for the students currently attending. Any information would be appreciated.
