Congrats to all who’ve been accepted! I’ve applied to UMass Lowell, UMass Amherst, Northeastern University and Suffolk University: Hopefully I have your luck :-D

calimomof4, jazzii … thanks for sharing on the all women’s college front.
congrats to jazzii and good luck at Pace!

“She has not experienced cattiness by the more wealthy students nor has she been approached by the LGBT students to pursue an alternative lifestyle. I think everyone knows where everyone stands and is excepting of one another”

Above is reassuring. Would you share where D1 went to or did I miss it? Is the experience that you mention above particular to this college? (I know it is hazardous to generalize).

congrats to D2 on her admission.
By the way for D2: I have seen the phrase “full ride” to mean “tuition” + board/sundry. Am I mistaken/

D1 attends Mills College in Oakland, CA. I mentioned the cattiness and LGBT stuff, because those are both stereotypes associated with Women’s Colleges.

D2 - Her full rides include tuition, room & board. She was told she could take out a loan for personal expenses, travel, and books up to a $5,500 limit.

My college prep HS son has a 3.5 unweighted and 28 ACT. He’s gotten acceptance letters to SMU, TCU, Alabama, Arkansas and Ole Miss. He’s in bottom 50% of his senior class so I’m glad he’s gotten into good schools. Some scholarship $ given, but none from TCU where he really wants to go.

S accepted Binghamton and University of Tampa ($$). Still waiting on: University of Miami, American University, University of Del and Geneseo. Binghamton was one of his top choices, so it feels good to have that in hand! He’s excited as are we. Wishes I found this site sooner.

Congratulations to all so far!

Congrats everyone!

I was just accepted to Ithaca College. I already know I won’t be going though because of the distance from home and I have some really great options in my home state.

Hello,

My daughter was also deferred in EA at Princeton. I am wandering if they still have some chance with RD. She also applied to U Chicago RD.

Good luck to your son and to all the others if they still do not have an answer!

S accepted to University of Miami. Waiting on 3 more.

My D received acceptances from University of San Francisco, Saint Mary’s Norte Dame, NAU, and a few CSU’s. Have about ten more apps waiting in the wings! Because she’s a nursing major, we threw a pretty wide net hoping to snag at least one direct entry and some merit aid. If the gamble pays off, frigid weather states, make room for some Californians!

20k Merit for St Kates… whew, it’s something while we wait!

I was getting ready to wean myself from the college application process and CC generally when I came upon this Parent forum. Darn, I think I have to stick around for a bit.

D got in ED to her dream school, Pitzer. We are from Maine, very east coast oriented, and she had a good list of nearby schools going when a privately hired college counselor added some geographic diversity to her list. i think it was love at first site with the web site visit, but a visit in September sealed the deal for her and for me.

Fortunately the good news came before other apps were due so the half done essays for Brown, Tufts, Vassar, Middlebury, et al never got completed.

She worked very hard in HS and had a stellar record, but her scores were a little on the low end for the schools she liked, so the early admit was a gift. California is a long way but wife and I look forward to visits.

Congrats to all the other admits. I am surprised to see so many schools admitting students so early. i thought everything but ED and EA were on a later timeframe.

Jon - Congrats! I love Pitzer. S applied regular decisions - we were just too concerned with finances to be comfortable with any ED. Claremont appears to be a special place.

Congrats Jonathan443322, my S is going to be nearby at Harvey Mudd and we are on the east coast as well. He was also accepted ED and fell in love with the place. I’ve been on CC for awhile but for some reason didn’t come across this thread.

New to all of this. My daughter is an only child so this is the only time I will be a part of anything like this, too. Forgive me if I make any faux pax’s.

My daughter has had fabulous results in her application process. I really thought she would be rejected to a least a few but so far she has 10 acceptance letters with decent scholarship money from all of them except Bard. Bard apparently only gives need based and sends out the papers in April for everyone at the same time. She applied through Bard’s Immediate Decision and was accepted in November. Since then she has heard from Beloit, Cornell College, Eckerd, Flagler, Georgia College, Guilford, Ithaca, Hampshire, SMFA. She is waiting for Emerson, Sarah Lawrence, RIT and Syracuse. Yes, she is driven as you can see. Don’t know where she got that from.

Her first choice is Bard, then RIT, Sarah Lawrence and Hampshire all jockeying for second place. Ithaca is in there too. All very different schools from one another. We live in Atlanta and she really wants to go to school in the NE. Any good information about these schools is welcome.

Does anyone have any info concerning Bards financial aid packages? Are they decent with money? The admissions counselor at Bard told us their average pkg is $29,000. She got $30,000 a year from Hampshire (including need based grants). Will Bard be similar?

D was accepted ED to University of Pennsylvania.

Business is her interest. She’s open to exploring exactly what she will do.

It’s like a party in here with so many celebrations. It’s really nice. We haven’t talked much to people because so many are still nervously waiting to know. Best of luck to all. It’s such an exciting time and stressful too for our kids.

Admitted to Ohio State with $15000 a year of merit scholarships haven’t heard about any need-based aid yet, but hopefully we’ll get something through the FAFSA.
