Just got my acceptance today with a 20k merit scholarship! Anyone else?

Me too! I got a 15k merit scholarship though. Congrats! Do you think you will attend?

I have no clue at this point. I haven’t visited or anything and I think I’m going to wait until April to chose 2 places to fly to. Honestly it depends where I get in and the financial aid situation. Hopefully they give need based as well!

Congratulations!

Awesome, thirrdplanet. I remember thinking that Earlham was really going to like you.

Haha how come? Thanks. My letter was very personal and awesome.

Hey people, did you get your decisions by mail or online?

Mail 10 char

Earlham acceptances come in a very sweet letter by mail. :)

I am an International student, so it will probably take more time.
I just hope it is not a rejection! :P

I didn’t realize they had two regular decision deadlines. I thought they only had one (3/1), had I known they had one for February 1st I would have submitted.

Hmm, oh well. Longer waiting for me.

I love how they personalized their acceptance letter!

My D got a wonderful, personal letter by mail, and a lovely $15k in merit scholarships.

Congratulations on all the acceptances!

Ppaayas - crossing my fingers for fast mail delivery and good news for you!

Earlham sent me an invitation to visit campus, at their expense! I am so excited and shocked that they will fly my in and get a first hand look. This is going to be awesome. Was anyone else invited?

That’s fantastic, thirdplanet. If there’s a particular activity, sport, club that you’re interested in (or even a major), they may be able to pair you up with a host student who’s involved in that. Just call or email Admissions.

Congratulations to all!

I know of a West Coast student they flew in for an overnight early last spring. The student had a parent go also. Apparently there were a bunch of other students also flown in on the same date and there was a group dinner provided. They weren’t there for any of the admitted student day events though, it took place before that. Student and parent both came away with good impressions.

BTW, for anyone else making a campus visit, you can do a day visit or overnight visit any time, it doesn’t have to be on an admitted students day. You may even have a bit more free time to see what you want or connect with people there you you’d like to meet. Let them know in advance if you want to meet professors in certain departments, visit a particular class, meet people in clubs or sports teams you’re interested in, see any special part of campus, etc.

When my D visited, she gave them a wish list in advance of 3 classes she hoped to sit in on, 2 particular professors to meet with, said she was interested in touring the barn and meeting someone involved with the EQ team, and wanted to visit one particular themed house. They made sure she was able to do every single thing on her wish list.

I will definitely plan to send them a list of things I would like to do. They sent a list of dates but didn’t specify which ones were during admitted student’s days or not. I will probably attend one of the earlier ones because I will most likely have to visit another school in April. They also sent an email saying they were sending a t-shirt. I just talked to one of the teachers who wrote my rec (his son is going to Earlham next year but is currently on a gap year) and he just received a letter thanking him for his rec and that I have been accepted! Everything with Earlham has been so personal and awesome.

Anyone know when they will get back to me about need based financial aid? I turned in fafsa on 2/1

I want to say they sent my kid’s initial FA info the third week of February but I’d need to see if I can confirm that somehow. It was changed several times as other scholarships and grants were added and we always received an updated version in a timely manner, both online and by mail.

When you use the visit form (left side of link above), tell them anything you’re interested in seeing or doing. If you know what majors you may be interested in, do your homework on the website (or ask admissions office or us to help you with that) to find which courses are offered this semester that you might want to sit in on. My kid heard some great references to a particular prof on a first visit during their spring break (when no classes held) and specifically asked to sit in on one of those prof’s classes on a return visit since she’d have him later for some of her major’s classes.

I forgot to say earlier that when we went, we also had a visit with the FA director and the coordinator of a selective program my kid was interested in. Everyone was extremely accommodating and able to answer many specific questions.

Some restrictions about campus visits (only admitted students can do April overnights, etc)
