Class of 2017

I tracked it down… the first FA package was received probably about March 8th.

Interesting it takes so long for the FA. Hopefully it will be enough! I am also planning to apply to the Bonner scholarship.

My t-shirt arrived today! It’s awesome and so nice they sent it.

Anyone else get in EA?

I applied on March 1st and I am afraid that Earlham might run out of room because of spots filled from their two EAs and 1st regular decision deadline.

Does Earlham have specific quotas they try to accept?

I am starting to worry.

Don’t worry much about this!

I know of someone who applied last year in JUNE 2012 who is now part of this year’s freshman class. The person had a close friend who was already accepted with great FA and decided to call the college in June to ask if there was still room. Got accepted with good FA and is now attending college there.

Been admitted, waiting to hear about financial aid also … fingers crossed!

Forgot to ask… what are you hearing about FA this year? We know they have been very generous in the past, but with the current economy you never know…

I’m waiting to hear on FA also. I received a merit scholarship but I am eligible for more. I’m applied for the bonner scholarship and chemistry ones as well.

Got our FA, very happy with it! D is now leaning very heavily toward Earlham, which is funny because when she started this search it wasn’t even on our radar!

^^ That’s exactly how it happened for us 4 years ago.

Their FA is the best I have received. Grinnell is about 1000 more per year which is negligible in the scheme of things but Macalester’s is not as good!

thirrdplanet, are you going to one of Earlham’s admitted student days?

Nope I visited earlier this month.

My son is going to the first day 4-7. We’ll fly into Dayton and rent a car.

Got accepted. Highly considering it.

I’m highly torn. Help me choose. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1480135-grinnell-vs-earlham-vs-other-lacs.html

I received the CBE scholarship for 16k!!!

Wow, thirrdplanet! That’s very cool, especially combined with your merit award! Any word on the B one yet?

Alternate for Bonner. They haven’t updated my package but I am almost positive with merit, need based, and CBE, it completely covers 100% of my EFC therefor the Bonner Scholarship probably wouldn’t give me any more money. I’m waiting until they update my package on Monday (they wanted to congratulate me first!) but it might be hard to turn this fantastic award down. I am still debating between Earlham and Grinnell however.

Congratulations, thirrdplanet!

Princeton72, will this be your first visit?

Yes LasMa, it will be our first visit. It’s pretty far from Maryland so we decided to wait until S actually was accepted before taking long trips. He’s narrowed it down to Earlham, Goucher, and St. Mary’s College of MD. Apparently he’s lost interest in UNC-Ashville and Warren Wilson; we offered to take him to Ashville but he wasn’t interested. I would have liked to go; I hear it’s very pretty! :)
