Hi everyone! I'm considering UNM for next year. Anyone else?

Bump bump bump

Older D graduated from UNM and is currently a med student at the SOM. I’ll try to answer any questions you have.

What do students do when not in class? When I was there I didn’t see a lot of them out in the surrounding area…

They do what most college students when not in class—they hang out in campus town, in the green space (like the Duck pond), in their dorm rooms, the library, the gym, student center, etc.

When the weather is warm, there are lots of outdoor games (soccer, volleyball, ultimate frisbee, etc) going on on the practice fields on the east side of campus by Johnson Gym.

Main campus really isn’t a commuter campus–the students don’t go home. Even kids who live in Albuquerque tend to live on campus or in the houses/apartments near campus rather than live at home.

Do you know anything about the quality of campus housing in UNM-los alamos?

I answered this question in the other thread you made.

Tl;dr

Not much housing available in Los Alamos. Period. Unless you’re willing to commute from Santa Fe, White Rock or Espanola, you likely won’t find any other short-term rental options.
