do you think it matters if mine was a priority application? and i know i hope i get in. its a bit of a reach but who knows. my act and avg. is the same exact thing as bergd96

No, EA and SCEA give you an answer by Dec. 15, the priority thing is more marketing that anything else. That isn’t a knock on Tulane, lots of schools do it and there is nothing wrong with it. It just means they found something in your record that makes them think Tulane might be a good fit for you, but there are no promises because they cannot see your entire record. They probably just saw your ACT score and that, possibly combined with something else they knew about you, triggered a priority app mailing.

Without seeing anything else in your app, I don’t think you are a reach, I would definitely call you a match. Hopefully you filled out the “Why Tulane” question.

I saw your other post about Wake and answered you over there. Is Wake still in the running? Did your parents come around? You can answer on the other thread so as not to take this one off track. But I will say that in many ways I think Tulane and Wake are similar. If you liked Wake that much, I think you would be happy at Tulane as well, unless there was something in particular about Wake that was important to you that Tulane just doesn’t have. It happens.

I was just accepted to transfer next semester! I am so shocked right now. I really thought I wouldn’t get in since transferring is harder to do than getting accepted in the first place. Yay!

Congrats, kaa. You are right that transferring is usually harder, but a few slots usually become available. You snagged one. Good for you.

I know you said before that the money was a big issue. Any news on that front?

lol i’m so impatient dec. 15 seems like its ages away.

Well, 14wilsc12, it probably won’t be that long. That is just the guaranteed latest. It means nothing because I am not admissions, but if I were to just guess I would think about 4 weeks from when your app showed complete.

bergd96: Where are you from?

Still haven’t heard of anyone getting in from Georgia???

Sometimes your admissions counselor is traveling during this time frame. I know it’s hard, but try to be patient. Based on your stats, you have an excellent chance of getting in if everything else is on par.

I was surprised to read students have already received acceptance letters. This is great news. Congrats to you all. My son’s file was completed at the end of August (EA). Tulane has been at the top of his list for the last two years. It’s a bit worrisome that he has not received a letter. Obviously, ( compared to scores listed here) his scores, school report are a bit of a reach for Tulane

SAT- 1990 730Cr/660m/600writing
AP - US History (5) English (3)
GPA -91.26 ( I’m assuming this is what is hurting him) private school does not rank students
He’s taking three AP classes this year, 800+ community service w/leadership roles, has visited the school, wrote a great “why Tulane”.

Although, my son really wanted to attend Tulane, he has already received acceptance letters from other schools and isn’t as excited about Tulane as he once was. He wants a school that thinks he is a great fit too. He has thought about retaking the SAT to increase his math and writing, will this help.?

It always helps to have higher scores, but frankly his stats seem solidly at Tulane’s average. I mean Tulane’s SAT average might be just over 2000, but that is not a significant difference. I am assuming that 91.26 is unweighted. If it is weighted, then you might be right that it is a little lower than average for Tulane. Still, I wouldn’t lose hope by any means. Some admissions officers are a little quicker than others, mostly depending on their level of experience. I see all your other posts are for Texas A&M. Are you from Texas?

Congrats to everyone who has already been accepted! I’m actually getting a little worried myself - I applied EA and my app was complete around a week ago, but I’m concerned that my stats aren’t in line for Tulane…
94.34 GPA W (school doesn’t give UW)
No ranking in my school
1980 SAT (720/560/700) and 29 ACT (34/35/25/22/31 writing/english) both only taken once

Tulane is one of my top choices! Candidates that are deferred EA get re-evaluated during the RD round, right?

Yes, in the past EA’s are rarely denied, but instead deferred. If that is still true, then at worst you would be deferred. Similar to Terri’s son, your stats are close to Tulane’s average. Your GPA looks higher than his, even if his is UW, so you are really close to the mid-line stats. Your SAT is better than your ACT score, 1980 converts to a 30. Assuming the rest of your application was solid and you did a good Why Tulane essay, your chances seem pretty good. Not a slam dunk (hardly any are these days), but very solid.

Thanks, fallenchemist. Yes, we are from Texas. Does anyone know what a 91.26 averages out to be on a 4.0 scale?

You just divide by 25 (since 100/25=4.0), so 91.26/25=3.65 So quite solid. Is it weighted or unweighted?

@14wilsc12 my application was also flagged/a priority application! my parents are both alumni at the school so i’m telling you i think that helped me a lot… i was dying before i hadn’t heard i can’t even explain it to you. be patient though, it’ll come! don’t be worried i’m sure you’ll be fine

@collegeboundhs14 i’m from texas and my application was sent in sept. 18 and gibson processed it by the last week of sept.

Excellent I got accepted! My app was complete Oct 11th. 2200 SAT 4.8/4.8 weighted GPA.

Congrats Kobe. I hope you are aware of the various high-end scholarships you can apply for. Dean’s Honors Scholarship, Paul Tulane Award, and new this year is the Stamps. With your stats you have a shot, I would think.

Has anyone from NY heard? I sent it in oct 4 and it was marked as complete a few days later.

Thanks fallenchemist!

I live in New York too jjj123. My portal still says my app is complete. I think our admissions counselor is currently traveling which explains why we haven’t heard anything. Last week I attended a Tulanr comes to you event and she was there
