Her automated email response said out of office until 10/23.

Yeah she came to my school this week. Only one person out of 30ish who applied from my school has heard so far.

I dunno, it all sounds pretty random. My application was marked complete on Tuesday, and I got my acceptance today… so if I got mine in 2 days, other people should expect the same thing.

movieman706 - when did you submit your application?

Well I submitted my application in early August, but they got my transcript and school report sent to them on Monday.

Hopefully I’ll get my decision soon! I submitted last weekend and it was marked complete 2 days ago. My admissions officer is out here visiting, but she said she’d read this weekend!

Status just changed on Gibson today…

Sent app in August (first or second week)
Given Gibson account info September 2nd

Plus I’m a Louisiana resident and have guaranteed admission… wish it wouldn’t have taken so long but it’s alright…

DD applied EA and is really interested in Tulane. We visited and she fell in love. She has a 3.53 UW and a 3.7 W with a 31 ACT. She’s heard of several from NY who have already been admitted and is getting anxious. Hope her stats are good enough and she hears soon! Congrats to all.

Her stats definitely good enough, just depends on everything else. Judging by the differential between UW and W, she must have taken several AP courses? That can be important.

I know that Tulane looks at the ACT composite score but… do they really look at the combinde english/writing and the writing score. I got an 11 out of 12 on the writing portion, how do you think that will look to admissions??

That should look good, I would think. No sense worry about that level of detail at this point. There is nothing you can do about it, and nothing good can come from getting over-anxious about it.

i’m just worried they think i haven’t put a lot of interest into the school. i haven’t visited campus and its only been on my radar since they emailed me in about september telling me to apply.i think i;m going to email her but i just dont want to show her that since i applied it has become my second to top choice. i dont know i just want to hear back lol

I think I know what you mean, but not having the school on your radar until you got the mailing is nothing to be ashamed of or shy away from. If it was, what would be the point of the mailings at all? That is what they are for, to create interest among talented students. Not visiting campus isn’t a negative, a lot of people can’t due to time constraints, expense, whatever. What is important is showing interest, and an email like you are intending to send does that.

I am not sure if you meant to say that you just want to show her, I am a little confused by that sentence. But in any case it would actually be favorable to you to write and say something to the effect that you were not familiar with Tulane until you got the mailing, and you decided to apply after a brief visit to the website and seeing that it seemed to fit your academic criteria. Since then you have been able to dig deeper into the school, read other people’s comments about it, etc. and it is now one of your two top choices. Again, they will not look unfavorably that you have one or two other schools you are strongly considering, that is completely normal. In the admissions world, knowing that their school is among the top 3 is very good, top two is really great, and knowing someone is virtually certain to attend if accepted is Nirvana.

So just be honest but diplomatic (for example, see how I phrased it as “one of your two top choices” and not “second to top choice”) and let them know your level of interest has grown dramatically in the short time Tulane came onto your radar. What is very important to add to that is a short explanation as to why it is pulling you in. Make it well reasoned and personal, not cliche nor frivolous. Finally, I just want to reiterate that it has to be error free. Let someone you know that is good with spelling and grammar and general proofreading look it over. It is that important.

There is a facebook group for admitted students, just found it ! Tulane University Class of 2018

We are still waiting. Son contacted his Admission Rep and they are waiting on his school report. His guidance counselor said he sent it weeks ago…Tulane can’t find it in the system. GC said he would send again. Slowing going out of our minds here… In the meantime son took SAT’s again and went up 60 pts. His first quarter GPA is a 3.7 and hes taking 3 AP classes and a college course which if he keeps up how he’s been doing he should end up with a 4.0 in the class.

Hey everyone just letting you guys know that the Tulane University Class of 2018 is up on Facebook! You have to send a request to join but it looks as though all the admissions counselors are admins so I wouldn’t worry bout them not knowing if you’re accepted or not!

Beyond excited–D was accepted today!! We’re in CA.

Congratulations to all our accepted students and good luck to everyone else still waiting…and waiting…

collage1 mind if i ask when you d had all of her stuff sent in from her school?

Hi everyone! I applied SCEA, submitted the final part of my application on 10-25 and it changed to complete on Gibson today on 10-28. My gpa is 3.95 weighted, 34 act, 2080 sat, will have taken 6 APs by the time I graduate and already received a 3 on US history, 4 on English literature and 4 on Spanish language. I have a good amount of ECs, a guidance counselor recommendation and 2 teacher recs. Also 50+ hours of community service and I have a job. Based on that what are my chances of admission and possibly merit? I really want to go to Tulane!!
