Class of 2018 Decisions

Oh man I was lucky enough to get the 30k presidential scholarship award and get into the honors college. Does anyone know how many people get the presidential scholarship award? If penn doesn’t accept me tulane is looking very nice right now

All of you who have already been accepted: when did you submit/when was your application marked complete? :)

To those who asked, my D’s application was submitted after everything else so it was complete once her app was received. It was between 2 and 3 weeks ago.

tulanehopeful11 - Obviously none of us are in a position to know what will happen, but your resume seems strong for Tulane, and I would think with a good merit award as well. Hopefully you filled out the Why Tulane question, and have either visited campus or attended one of the local Tulane sessions. But you have a great ACT score, it translates into a much higher SAT score, so ACT is the way to go for you. 6 AP’s shows a challenging schedule, and certainly nothing wrong with a 3.95 weighted. Do you happen to know what that is unweighted?

Kobe - Congrats on the Presidential Scholarship! That is really outstanding. I don’t know for sure, but I think it is a good guess that somewhere around 5% of the incoming class is offered a scholarship at that level. Maybe a little higher, but that should be a pretty good guess. As far as Honors goes, I just want to make sure you understand it is an Honors Program, not a separate Honors College. They are really quite different.
Son just got his acceptance! he texted me when i was at the gym and I started crying I was so happy!

Congratulations to dolphnlvr6’s ds!!!

If I got accepted but haven’t filled out the merit applications, am I still fine to fill them out?

Congrats, dolphnlvr!! Where are you located?

We are in PA. He submitted his application 2 weeks ago and it was marked complete on Saturday. He got the e-mail today. His stats are SAT 1940, GPA 3.8. He has 3 AP courses (Psychology, US History and Govt and Politics) plus he has taken 3 college classes. EC’s- over 100 hours of community service every year, Mock Trial (awarded Best Advocate), Track and Cross Country, Secretary of the Senior Class, National History Day, Stock Market Club, St. Michaels Society (community service club) Commissioner for Student Leadership. He was selected to participate in Keystone Boys State last year and spent a week at Tulane over the summer working with lowernine.org in a service leadership program. He’s received academic awards for outstanding grades in chemistry, Algebra 2/Trig, and something else…can’t remember. He also received a Letter of Commendation from the PA State Police for Bravery and commitment to his community 2 years ago when our town flooded and he helped our neighbors to evacuate and rescued their pets…and he had a broken neck at the time. I’m hoping he gets the community service scholarship. That’s really his thing.

Just curious for those who have heard already, did you apply Single Choice Early Action? My DD applied EA, not single choice and her application was submitted a while ago, however she opted to send an art supplement and that was just sent last week. She is anxiously awaiting…

Son applied SCEA

My application status on Gibson is blank right now – there’s nothing there! My app was marked complete about a week and a half ago…does this mean that they’re processing my app right now or am I just looking into this too much??

Mine is blank too!

That’s great, dolphnlvr.

Leicester - yes, the deadlines for the DHS and the PTA are Dec 15. The application for the Community Service Award is Jan 15.

My son checked his account and it is blank, as well. He mentioned there was an error notice. It might be meaningless… however, in the past, a few sites have gone blank just prior to the site being updated and students receiving acceptance notifications. Fingers crossed! Hang in there!!

mine just went blank and now i feel like they could be updating it. oh boy

D2 was accepted exactly one year ago today. Why don’t I remember it was on the eve of Hurricane Sandy? For those applying, Community Service scholarship notification was March 11, 2013

My D’s is also blank! That is so strange. I wonder what’s happening?

just kidding, it went back to being filled in and it says that the app is complete and is awaiting review. another day goes by…
