Has anybody received their actual acceptance letter in the mail/financial aid?

not yet…

We’re waiting for ours too. I wish they sent an email copy of the letter first-- my D was accepted to Case and that’s how they do it. We’re eager to hear details from Denver.

@philhicks7 I received the acceptance letter in the mail today, and was also notified of the admission decision by email this past Monday.

Best of luck to those still waiting on a decision! Go Pioneers!

Still haven’t received anything in the mail yet. I want to hear if I got any merit aid!

Daughter (and parents) was thrilled to get an email last week that she was accepted EA. We are also waiting on the letter. Were hoping it would arrive today, but no such luck. We are out of town tomorrow so we will have to wait until Wednesday.

Gigi17, congrats on your acceptance. Out of curiosity, what state are you in? Wondering if the delay is with the USPS or if the letters are still being mailed.

My son got an email acceptance last Monday and got a confirmation and scholarship letter today. He’s been offered the Chancellor’s Scholarship–$18,000 towards tuition and an additional $3000 towards tuition if he lives in approved residence halls and apartments–a potential of $21,000 annually and $84,000 total award. From the DU website, its the top merit award. His stats: 3.92 UW/4.8+ W (under NC’s weighting system); 2030 SAT; lots of honors, AP and ECs. We’ll still need need-based money to make it affordable, but we are thrilled!

Congrats ethelouise!

SoCalDad-- Thank you, congrats to you and your daughter as well!

I live in Colorado, but I know a few people who applied out of state and received their acceptances the same day. I’m thinking there is most likely a delay with the mail carrier.

I still haven’t gotten my acceptance packet in the mail! Mail came today, but still nothing. I’m in Texas.

@sosocollege I haven’t gotten anything yet either and I’m in New York. Probably just takes forever to get all the way across the country.

DD got her letter today, Chancellors and Direct Admittance into Daniels :)woo hoo
32 ACT and 4.0 We are in IL.

Got my letter today! Dean’s Scholarship (14,000 plus 3,000 for housing which is $17,000 per year) and direct admittance into Daniels.
26 ACT (34 on English if that means anything)
GPA 4.04 on 5.0 scale
Texas
Best of luck to everyone!! My GPA isn’t nearly as good as others but I sure got a nice chunk off of tuition. There is hope for those who haven’t heard yet!

Congrats ethelouise, ldavis, and sosocollege.

Still waiting for my daughter’s packet to arrive. For all those still waiting, just remember that “all good things are worth waiting for.” :)

$21k per year! I’m so excited. 30 ACT, 2030 SAT & 4.0
Can’t wait to visit this spring!

I received an acceptance email on the 16th and I received a letter on the December 23. I have a 3.7 weighted GPA and am unsure of my unweighted GPA I have taken majority honors classes except for freshman year where I was in CP English. My ACT score was a composite of 28 with a 24 in math 25 in reading 30 in science and 30 in english. I received a $13,000 scholarship plus 3,000 if I reside on campus. I feel pretty lucky as DU is one of my top three, probably top two. I am not sure how I compare with others accepted I hope this helps.

Very happy son was accepted but disappointed to get letter saying no merit aid. We make too much money for financial aid but paying full sticker price at Denver (cost of attendance 56k?) is hard to stomach and finance. Based on web site, he looked like he’d be right on the cusp for receiving merit money so it was disappointing to learn that he will receive none. I wish they’d give out more smaller grants so that more families would feel elated in the way I was hoping we’d feel. Had we gotten even a small break, I think the decision would have been made, but now we want him to look more closely at schools where he’s received merit aid and/or at schools that are simply less expensive. Paying full freight just sits heavy. Anyone else?

I don’t know how it works, but I wonder if you can go back to the school and ask for reconsideration of merit aid. Does anyone know if this is acceptable? My daughter received $9,000 tuition/$3,000 housing because of a lower gpa (she had a strong ACT score). But, she goes to a competitive private school with no weighted grading. I’m going to ask our college counseling office if we can ask for reconsideration for a higher scholarship. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining about what she received, but every additional dollar is helpful. I know some kids in her school who applied to Denver got more merit than she did and I know they are not planning on attending. There’s a good chance she will go to Denver, so it would be great if they targeted the higher amounts to the kids who actually want to go there rather than those who used it as a “safety.”

I got in ED with a 3.8 gpa, rank of 29 out of 250, not so great ACT (22 composite), and a strong background in journalism (I work for my local paper, editor in chief of school paper, various writing awards, etc.). I also have a few APs and all As throughout my four years. No sports and a a few other extracurriculars

I just received my rejection email today.

I wasn’t intending on going to DU unless I got really good aid (which I thought I would since an Honors program I’m in at the CC has a partnership w/ DU). I am OOS — Washington — even though DU’s private and doesn’t care as far as I know. I applied w/ an average at best 1850 SAT, 3.52 HS GPA upward trend, and a 3.7 college GPA (higher than HS), and will be graduating w/ an AA along w/ my HS diploma. 200+ community service hours in four different areas, w/ a solid essay.

Is DU really this difficult to get into, or was I just the being “made an example of?” I had a bad feeling when my EA app got pushed to the RD pool. It has me worried, since I applied to UW, Reed College, Whitman, USC, and Oxy all RD, which are way more difficult than DU. Now I just feel all bleh… I mean, they can’t even send it in the mail formally? Or does that come later? Anyone have any clues why I earned a rejection? Low GPA (?) or SAT (I could understand that, a little)? One of my Honors advisors said it may have to do w/ the yield rate and me negatively affecting it but I have a hard time believing DU takes that much into protecting their yield rate, I always thought that was really just schools like the Ivies.

Soooooorry for the negativity… I’m just stumped and am curious what anyone thinks as to why I wasn’t DU worthy? It has me down now. :’(

Sixohyess - I’m surprised you were rejected. Your stats seem to fall near the middle 50% of admitted students. Perhaps they had an above average pool of candidates this year. Were you applying for a popular or competitive major? Hang in there and good luck with your other decisions.
