I would encourage you to know your school’s specific policy with respect to receiving shipments before move-in in order to avoid refused delivery and lost items. It’s much safer than hoping somebody is at the dorm. At NYU for example, you cannot ship anything in advance of move in date. I’m sure there are people that do it anyway and I don’t know if delivery is refused or what they do but it isn’t worth the risk.

FWIW, CCPA/Roosevelt accepts packages and asks that they arrive no sooner than a week before Freshman move-in. They do lose a fair number of them internally, though. My son got one about a month after he moved in, fortunately nothing critical.

You can also ship things to Mailboxes Etc. and other commercial shippers, if there’s one nearby.

I searched the school website and found no info, but I asked other parents at his school and got the info I needed. They do have a centralized system, and all mail and packages, whether USPS or private shipping go through the school post office. Luckily it is a small school, and hopefully it will end up where it needs to be. I won’t be ordering more until I have the PO address for my student. Live and learn :)

Funny story…central Florida University sent out their dorm assignments. Looks like some kids have been assigned to living in bathrooms and closets by mistake…

^^ wow…

OK indulge me briefly. Been gathering stuff for class of 2018 son and all of the yada yada and expense that goes with that (and did I mention that he got randomly assigned to an economy quad? Note the word “economy.” Thank you Northeastern!!!) Meanwhile I also just now paid the first semester of junior year tuition bill for my 2016 Tisch daughter. That means I am more than 1/2 way done with her college expenses. As I’ve always been more of a glass half full kind of a gal, I’m looking at this as a win instead of a step closer to the poor house. So to that end: <a href=“Pharrell Williams - Happy (Despicable Me 2 - Lyric Video) - YouTube”>Pharrell Williams - Happy (Despicable Me 2 - Lyric Video) - YouTube;

Ten days away here. Packing the vacuum bags. Son spoke to roomie on the phone and he is bringing a fridge and son will bring microwave, which I just ordered on Amazon Prime. Don’t know where they will put them, but I have an idea the desks won’t be used for study time :)

(this for you @DoReMiMom!)

LOL @GSOMTMom! 11 days to go…still just sheets. Stay tuned for crazy social media posts on August 19.

Online shopping and at the very least having things shipped to the store in or near ONU’s town will be your best friend! AND STOP WITH THE COUNTDOWNS!!! We have way more than sheets, though! LOL

Haha! My kids HATE my countdowns!

WTH DoRe?? LOLOLOL well at least she has sheets.

We have all her black clothes, rehearsal blouses and the rehearsal skirts are almost done sewing. Nothing is packed, just in piles. She knows where all her dance shoes are too.
We just found out Wednesday that she is in an apartment so now we need quite a few other things for kitchen/housekeeping we never thought of before.
We were on vacation last week and this week I have been babysitting my sister’s 16 month old twins… OMG Am I tired now!.. so after the twins leave tomorrow we are hitting three thrift shops and Sunday we are doing the BBB trip. We will be in pretty good shape after those 2 outings.
And there is always Amazon prime for what we forget!

I know I know LOL. She keeps saying “we packed in 2 days before I left for MT pre-college at CMU so we should be fine.” I only slightly recall those 2 days… because they were SO INSANE! It will all make for a funny story some day…hopefully!
