@paws27 - I am sorry about the disappointing news and wish you the best of luck with you other applications. I was surprised that you received an email from UROC. I thought they only sent out letters?

I was very disappointed (see other thread) with UROC in not meeting promised deadlines. My D applied Priority with a promised decision by Feb 15. The decision was 10+ days late. No apologies. That is unacceptable.

General Comments:
To be honest, I thought I was going to get rejected. I’m an Asian female from NJ with a moderately low income and poor grades. I think I got extremely, extremely, extremely lucky and I’m extremely, extremely grateful. I checked the portal site every single day and I think I showed a great amount of interest in the school because it is my first choice.

I’m getting more and more worried as weeks go by. I really don’t think its fair for them to let some people know their decision while not the others. They say that everyone will know their decision by April 1st… I hope its not on the April 1st…

Life isn’t fair, Julia, and certainly college isn’t fair, your grades won’t be fair, the food at URoc will be fair, however. ;

So on my portal, I’m at step 5 now: “A decision has been made on your application. You will receive a notification letter in the mail.”

Umm, there’s no way I can check it online?

Um…a probable reason for the delay in decisions (especially when they send it by batches through mail) is the fact that they type the letters differently for each applicant. I received my letter today and I realized how personal the letter was - by personal I mean they typed it up such that it reflected the reason why they accepted me as a person and as an applicant - unlike other acceptance letters where they basically send out the same structure and just change the major you’re applying for. Don’t quote me on this but when I read my letter it is as if they really did review my whole application and I was really happy that they included the reason why they accepted me which makes the letter stand out relative to the others.

My daughter received her acceptance in NJ on Saturday.
She is having email problems, so hasn’t checked her portal yet, so I don’t know if there is any scholarship information there.

As much as we love UR, I think that the COA at Northeastern, RPI or Stevens Institute will be much lower, and she will probably end up at one of these schools.

Well from what I’ve been hearing, rejection notification come as an email?

marymac - Your D should get an e-mail about any merit scholarships about a week after receiving the acceptance. This was my D’s experience, as well as the experience of other kids from her school.

still haven’t received a letter… so i’m not expecting any good news i suppose

Ok, today I got an email saying that I got merit based scholarship. I’m an international student and applied Rochester RD. However, I haven’t yet received any email considering my admission decision. Can I assume this as an acceptance? Since I got a scholarship and has ‘pay enrollment deposit’ menu on my MyROC page.

Wailisted. I just figured out that I received an email from them two days ago. It was in my spam box, so if you are not receiving anything, check the spam portion. (I use gmail)

I checked myroc page this morning and my status is still in step 4… and I haven’t received any emails yet about my decision so far. I’m not sure if this is a good sign or a bad sign

@kmj1995kr Same here. A couple of weeks ago I received an email from them about their Family Recommendation option, I think they were like recommending I do it. I almost did but my aunt who was going to write it lives 6 hours away so she can’t sign the application…

So I didn’t do it, but I’m just really weirded out that I haven’t heard anything else from them. All my friends have already gotten their acceptances, and I didn’t think U of R was that much of a stretch for me…but now all this silence has me worried. Has this happened to anyone else? Hopefully I’ll hear back in the next few days.

Hey, I haven’t heard back from them yet either… my portal still says step 4 and nothing in my email or spam (but accepted at harvard??? so I can honestly say it’s not a big concern ahaha).

I was at the 2018 Experience today and the Dean of admissions said they still had several hundred applications to get through. Don’t give up hope!

@pepper17 - thanks for the hope!

Did they mention how many apps they got in or what the admit rate is this year? The admit rate is supposed to be down due to really over-enrolling the last two years.
