Figured it would be appropriate to start a waitlisted thread as their notification date is nearing.

Has anyone gotten an email from the office stating that MIT will be using their waitlist this year?

Has anyone gotten an email from the office stating that MIT will be using their waitlist this year?

Called them, and he hinted that they aren’t going to use it this year.

Wow, that’s crushing… Did they give a date when people will be actually notified of the decisions?

@Vexophous who did you speak with at MIT? Student worker answering the phone or an admissions person?

@sunnyone Definitely some older person. Anyways we would’ve gotten an email by now stating that MIT will use their waitlist (based on years that used their waitlist).

@Vexophous what did the person on the phone say?

I called them yesterday and some lady said they are meeting sometime this week to make a decision whether they are using waitlist or not. I asked if the outlook was positive, but she couldn’t say anything.

(per MIT Admissions Blog)
WAIT LIST UPDATE: 28 will be admitted from wait list. Emails will be sent out at 5pm EST.

My son called caltech and same answer- basically move on

@sunnyone. That is great news! They did not take anyone off the waitlist last year. So count your blessings that they will take 28 students more than last year…good luck to all.
