Yes, D has scholarship audition at Muhlenberg in 2 weeks and is auditioning at the NYU steinhardt open house on Nov. 9. Let the roller coaster ride begin!
D just got word today that she passed her Penn State prescreen so that’s one more she has to schedule. Made her very happy and was a great confidence boost! waiting on 3 more prescreen results, hopefully more good news to come.

Woo Hoo!! Cellomom51 congrats on the prescreen!!! We know a girl who didn’t get through Penn State’s prescreen she is crushed.

My S thinks I am a calm, cool, organizational genius, who is now also a Stephen Sondheim trivia expert LOL! I come here to let it out.

We are also traveling to each school, very fortunate to have so many great schools within driving distance.

MTMAJORCOOK- D is auditioning at B-W on Nov. 16. It is her first, and I can’t go- Dad is taking her. She is a little stressed, as he has NEVER gone on any type of audition with her …ever. I am hoping his quiet personality will be a calming influence.

S has first audition at Montclair on November 9th. His Dad and me, and possibly brother are going with…should make for an interesting first audition. He doesn’t seem worried at all, so I guess we’ll see. Looking to schedule one for December 7th still, and the rest are in Jan and Feb (both NYC and Chicago Unifieds, and a couple of other on campus auditions). Would you believe we still need to submit Pre-Screens??? AAAHHHH!!

On another note, we received Point Park academic acceptance today; not sure it means too much without the audition!

My son is hoping to audition Dec. 7th for Hartt. My son hasn’t even filmed his pre-screens, but I’m hoping it can be accomplished in a couple of weeks. My son is meeting with the accompanist next Tuesday.
This is a roller coaster ride. I really had to take a good look at how stressed I was feeling and let go of some of the angst.

@entertainersmom, yes so did I, my husband actually asked me last night…“doesn’t he still need to film his songs?”…I said “Yes, but I’m tired of asking…he knows he has to do it, he’ll let me know when”…so I’m trying to let go…He doesn’t have to know I’m obsessingly checking each college website for application materials…every day…twice a day!!!

HannahsMom2018 (and everyone else) - Just a word of caution…you say your D is auditioning for a handful of schools at Unifieds “at the bottom of her list.” There are some school reps on this board and with your D’s name being prominent in your screen name, it could be construed that your D would not likely be happy at their school. I have no idea if they would be influenced by that or not, but my D and I were shocked by some of the things parents and kids said on their way out of auditions like, “I hated that dance,” or “It’s just my safety.” Try to encourage your child to be open going in to all the auditions. You never know if that is the school she will attend. If you publicly state it is at the bottom of her list, she will be that much more disappointed if it is where she ends up.

I would also caution people not to think of Unifieds as a place only for schools on the bottom of their list. We have friends now attending Michigan,CCM, Carnegie Mellon, Syracuse, Ithaca and many others who all auditioned at Unifieds in Chicago. I promise you they do select people for their classes at Unifieds. It is a great place to audition. And we know others who learned of some terrific lesser known programs and did walk in auditions at Unifieds and their kids are now happily attending those schools. So keep an open mind. You may be surprised with where you finally decide to go. There are lots of great options out there. Wishing you all the best of luck as you begin the audition season.

MTMAJORCOOK - did you get my PM response? The message board was acting quirky. If not, let me know and I will re-send!

mcpcwhite - got it! Thank you!

Hannahsmom - think I told you already but we’ll be at CCM the 25th as well. I’m considering booking the hotel for Saturday night too. I’ve driven from Cinci to Pittsburgh in a snow storm once…not wanting to do that again. So I may reserve the room and then wait to see how the weather is. If you are a country music fan. Toby Keith has a restaurant in downtown Cinci (about 4 miles from campus) its called “I Love This Bar”. We had fun there this summer.

Frazzled - we’ll be there on Friday the 15th! I’ll let you how it all goes so check your messages that day.

MTMommajaa - right with ya. I check and double check. And then I’m only encouraged to continue this behaviour because occasionally the info changes between my AM and PM check LOL

Thanks MTMAJORCOOK! D is very excited about B-W…and also the fact that she is heading north of the Mason-Dixon line…heady stuff for a Floridian!

frazzled - fingers crossed it says above 30 degrees for her visit way up here! LOL

Anyone know if the CollegeBoard releases scores at midnight? My S’s SAT scores are available tomorrow…fingers crossed!!

Yes, we are from Louisiana…and many of my son’s auditions fell in January and February – snowstorms followed us everywhere, including a blizzard the day we left Boston. It only added to the fun and adventure!! I finally decided that he would certainly have a taste of a northern winter and if he still wanted to go to school “up there,” then he could make it!

Hi Hannahsmom2018…I have a question. Did you confirm NYU audition. The information I am seeing on the website still states that the audition slots are not open yet?
Let me know. Maybe I am doing something wrong. Thanks .

iammtmom - I can’t get the audition at Tisch confirmed either. The site keeps giving me the same message that the scheduler will be available the week of Oct. 21. I called 2 days ago and spoke with someone. She wasn’t very nice and told me, “Check again in about an hour, and if it doesn’t work, check tomorrow.” So…so far, it’s still not working. It’s frustrating because there is only one date that works for us due to work, her schedule, and other auditions, so I’m pretty anxious to get it scheduled. If it ends up working, I’ll post a message. Please do the same. :)

I will! and BTW we will see you at Elon- we have same date.

My son met with his guidance counselor Oct. 8th, they requested his transcripts and teacher recommendations sent through his Naviance account. They were sent Oct. 15th to his schools, he has a confirmation number, but both schools are saying they haven’t received them. His guidance counselor said they are sent electronically and it can take a couple of weeks? Anyone familiar with this situation? Thanks

Yes, it happens here all the time, and our college counselors HATE it because they take all the heat! It just takes awhile for things to be processed. It’s tough when you can’t schedule your audition till everything is complete; for some reason, this wasn’t the case with any of my son’s schools last year and he was able to schedule as soon as he had submitted his own application regardless of the scores, transcripts, and supplementary materials. Good luck and be patient…and be assured that both high schools and colleges are cursing the Naviance/Common App system as much as you are right now!

I have to say that we haven’t had any problem scheduling auditions with incomplete applications. The only auditions not scheduled are for schools with prescreens.
