MtMajorCook, good for your son deciding to audition. CLO is a great organization. You might want to have him check what the rehearsal schedule is, though, as it may interfere with school. Rehearsals typically begin in May at CLO.

It begins 5/22, so a few days before school is out. He’ll have to indicate for a few days in May he isn’t available until after school, there is a space on the form to indicate your availability. Hopefully that won’t impact his chances but we’ll see.

Thought you all might find this interesting.

Thanks for sharing, bisouu! I’m sending to my three actors, two post college, one in the thick of it. I especially like her points about taking care of yourself and, of course, dealing with being green!

Thanks Bisouu, I saw her in “Wicked” this past April on Broadway. She was wonderful.

Laugh of the morning…D received an exasperated email from Rider today…

We really want to review your application but cannot because you are missing this one vital piece, are you still interested because if you are not, pull your application…

The vital missing piece, HER AUDITION, which she is scheduled to have next Monday, 1/20!
Come on right and left hand, get together and clap for me!!! D has been getting and ignoring the “you’re missing a piece of you application, your audition” email for months. They even sent another email confirming her audition and sending the specific time last week so she knows everything is all set.

anyone else going to be at Rider around 12:30 on MLK day?

D got into JMU (academically) the day we got back from her Tx State audition so we know she is going to college SOMEWHERE, makes these auditions just a little more fun (for me, D is set on getting into an MT program so only H and I are a little more relaxed…)

HAAA!!! How frustrating!

“Come on right and left hand, get together and clap for me!!!” HILARIOUS!!!

CelloMom-- How did your daughter find out from JMU? Snail mail or thru MyMadison?

My son will be there next weekend for the MT audition.

We will be there on Monday at 12:30!! Saturday is D’s first audition at Baldwin Wallace, then Mon is Rider! Here we go!!

Hey, preklbt, my S and I will be at BW on Saturday, too! BAL to your D!

I wish I had a dollar for each email my S gets asking for info we have already sent over. Scores, transcripts etc… Some schools can’t get it together. And the admissions depts and MT depts DO NOT communicate. More work for my S. Oh I meant me!

SU88BFA, through MyMadison but D applied EA. Her MT audition is on Feb. 8 but she knew her grades/scores fit the school so she thought it might be good to be able to go in with an acceptance already. BAL to you son next weekend!

Preklbt, see you and your D on Monday. BAL to her and D of maMTma at BW on Saturday!

preklbt and cellomom51 - I’ll see you both at Rider on Monday. Private message me if we don’t find each other and we’ll connect based on where we’re sitting, or wearing.

I bet you will recognize me, the mom who is as nervous as my D! LOL! My hubby will be w/us too.
Break a leg to all auditioning this weekend!

Break legs at Rider. It was a very positive experience at the audition. The facility is very nice. There was a large gathering room to hang out in with food and beverages. The staff was introduced to the group. Auditioning students were taken for vocal warm-ups - which was a bonus. The staff was introduced, and there were several lovely current students working the room. It was one of the more comfortable auditions that we have been to. Have fun!

It’s a yes for D’s number one non-audition school and a yes from Pace to “come on down” from her prescreen!

She’s auditioning for the film/tv/voice over major.

Congratulations sydism and D!

Son is attending an audition today at the University of Southern Maine, the only school in Maine to offer MT. It is a BM degree and the curriculum looks wonderful. His dad is going with him, and is a nervous wreck! Dad will be going with him to Chicago, so this will be a good opportunity to get a taste of things to come. I gave my husband orders to count how many audition, the male/female breakdown, and what the women are wearing, so I may report here, lol! Break a leg to all auditioning this weekend!

It’s been a year this week that I went on my first audition with my D. If there are any dads out there, make sure you go on at least one or two - it’s a great bonding experience. And know that there will be a lot of differences of opinion as to what schools/audition experiences are good and bad, and that your child’s (and your’s) ranking list will probably change as you go through the process. As an example, one school that was very high on my D’s list (a conservatory in a Midwestern state -don;t want to name a specific school), was very high on her list. Until the audition. While the audition itself went well, she found the students there to be very stuck up, the faculty seemed kind of snobbish, and when she asked her student guide what they did on weekends the response was: get drunk like everyone else. The minute we left, she indicated she would wouldn’t go there unless it was the only place she got in, and even then she’d have to really think about it. So have fun, but be ready to be flexible!

My hopes for many, many broken legs out there for all!

I have fond memories of last MLK weekend. D and I did our 3 school/city train trip: BU on Friday, MMC on Saturday and Rider on Monday. Enjoy this time with your kids, next year they may be pretty far away, in our case Chicago. And I agree with jeffandann, my husband was so happy to have gone to the LA unifieds with D. It gave him an idea of all she went through to get where she is today.

I so agree with austinmt. I read these posts with fond memories of the time we spent with our son doing this last year. We are in Louisiana and he is in Pittsburgh, living his dream and loving the program he selected. This is such a special time - I know well the angst and anxiety; but don’t rush it! God knows it will be here for you soon enough. :)
