Class of 2018!

ive heard someone who got email about scholarship information (golden exellence), also im an international student so i guess ill have to wait much longer for the mail

GPA: 3.87
ACT: 32
School: Originally applied to CSE. I’ll be switching to Calrson if I attend
Attending: Possibly. If I get any scholarships that would also affect my decision.

Just find on my application tracker Im admitted to Honors! Yay!

Accepted
GPA: 4.0 UW
SAT:2230
ACT: 33
School: College of Biological Sciences
Attending? Probably not… I just received honors and scholarships from CU Boulder, which is in state for me

D Accepted

GPA 4.8 W, 3.68 UW
ACT 29
College if Biological Sciences
OOS

No scholarship or honors notification yet

MN is top choice right now.

I have been accepted!

GPA: 4.0
SAT: Didn’t take
ACT: 34
School: School of Science and Engineering
Attending? : Possibly! Waiting on MIT and also U of Wisconsin-Madison.

I also was awarded the Gold National Scholarship, worth a little over $25,000 over the four years. I’m from Ohio and that brings me to in-state tuition. I loved the campus and they have an excellent ChemE program, so I am ecstatic about my acceptance and scholarship! I have not yet received any notification on the honors program. That may seal the deal should I not get into MIT.

I was accepted a while back but…

GPA: 4.0 UW
SAT: –
ACT: 33
School: CLA
Attending: After all the safety issues lately and the lack of significant aid, I’m straying from the U. I have applied ED to another school, so that will determine it all in the end.

I was accepted to the Honors program, though, and got the presidential scholarship!

I am an in-state applicant, by the way.

Will someone please let me know what you think. I am a high school senior and applied to the University of Minnesota. CBS as my first choice and CLA as my second. I was wondering what my chances are of getting in. I applied in early October and still haven’t heard anything back yet.

I am taking two college classes this year and took one last year. Have been in honors classes all throughout high school. I was in soccer for four years, band for one year, track for one year, and the musical for all four years. I have little volunteer hours.
GPA: 3.68
ACT: 27

I feel like I have a good chance but not sure. Let me know what you think.

GPA: 3.6/4.0
SAT: 2130 (submitted)
ACT: 32 (not submitted)
School: College of Science and Engineering
Attending?: Most likely! Unless I get into Georgia Tech.

I was accepted awhile back but just received acceptance into the honors program!

Accepted: 3.7 (not a lot of APs)
SAT: 2000
ACT: Did not take
School: College of Liberal Arts
Attending?: Probably not, but wouldn’t rule it out.

Note, I am out of state, Puerto Rico

My D was accepted in mid October. Scholarship notice was received a few days before acceptance and she was accepted into the Honors program within a week of admission notice. She wants to study ChemE and that’s the sole reason for applying to UMN.

GPA: 3.99/4.0 (max)
SAT: 2230
ACT: 35
School: CSE, Honors
Attending? : It depends. Still waiting for the result from 5 more schools. The scholarships offered are pretty good while there are 3 more pending hopefully making it near a full ride for a oos. That would be a major part of the consideration.

Got accepted in the November wave, applied in October.

GPA:3.99
SAT: x
ACT: 33
School: College of Science and Engineering
Attending? : It’s my safety school, so I will attend if I don’t get into Stanford, USC, or Northwestern. If I get in anywhere else it’ll come down to scholarships I get from the U of M vs. aid/scholarships from the other schools.

Good luck with your other top schools, Lanawinters! Love the name, btw.

GPA: 4.56/3.8
SAT: 2200
ACT: 34 with writing
College of Biological Sciences

I am really considering attending since I have been offered academic scholarships that would pay half of my total costs over the 4 years (49k of ~100k). That’s less than just one year at Duke!

Despite the acceptance and scholarships I am a little concerned…I am from Southern California and the coldest temperatures Ive been in have been around 20 degrees F. Yahoo Weather is telling me that Minneapolis is experiencing 0 degree weather right now. o.o Is this making anyone else hesitant?

Additionally, the university suggests that Honors students dorm at Middlebrook Hall. However, it is the only dorm on West Bank, is not in as safe an area and is viewed by the other halls as “full of nerds or foreigners”. I am thinking about joint the Biology Class Learning Community at Frontier instead…

GPA: 4.36 W, 96% average UW (my school does GPA weirdly)
SAT: didn’t submit
ACT: 35
School: CBS and honors college
Attending? : No. Minnesota gave me a crappy scholarship, and I have full tuition to another school and near full tuition in just merit money to another. While the other 2 people accepted from my school also got the gold scholarship, they got $45,000 more than I did because they were national merit semifinalists. I was one question away in a state with one of the highest cutoffs, and I took the test while sick.

Yup, they like the National Merit kids and tend to award more $$$ to them.

koalathebear, I think scholarships are awarded through the end of March. They send out initial offers to entice people to keep considering but for people with stats like yours I expect you have a good chance of getting more scholarships once all applications are in. Either way congrats on your other offers and good luck with your decision!

There are scholarships that are not automatically applied with admission application. You nick to check a few boxes on a survey form online to apply. The result for those will come out in March. In any case, it is too early to decline any offer for financial reason.
