Class of 2019 application and acceptance thread!

That is a bummer but I’ve heard you can take classes at the Community College in Lansing that will transfer until January. Good Luck!

Courtney-My personal statement was about taking initiative and perseverance. Also, when I called MSU about my ACT still not being on my portal, someone told me to send in my quarter grades, even though they asked for the semester. My quarter ends next week, but I have a 3.7 UW, 4.2 W for the quarter taking 3 IB classes.

So two things for both SHS and Reb - first off I have 2 friends with kids, one who was deferred/waitlisted/on hold, she got into MSU in the spring. Her ACT was 23 and gap maybe a 3.3. That was 4 years ago but I imagine it’s about the same now. My son’s friend who is a year older than him did not get in for fall 2014 admission. He is at Lansing Community College (LCC) currently, applied again for spring 2015 admission and has already been accepted. I think that would be a “worst case scenario”. Don’t lose hope! They absolutely do transfer credits from LCC and the upside is LCC is MUCH cheaper. I know of a lot of kids who have done that.

He also took summer classes at LCC. I can tell you that my son took a class at LCC this summer and is dual enrolled at MSU currently taking an ISS class and scheduled to take a WRA class in the spring. I know admissions loves seeing college work on an app! SHS you should be fine! Looking forward to hearing! Reb hopefully they just want to see your 1st semester work then will admit you.

They’ve been reviewing my application for 3 weeks! I sent everything in by 9/5. My GPA is 3.95 and my ACT score is 26. Why are they taking so long?

your stats should be more than adequate to get in. Some admissions people just take longer than others. Don’t worry - you should be solid

I applied to the college of engineering too. Has your son gotten a reply yet? All my friends has gotten a replied but I’m the only one that applied to engineering.

Yes he was accepted as a first year engineer. Honestly your stats don’t have me concerned whatsoever.

My document status on my application says “Awaiting” for my September ACT as well. Should I assume they have it, but because of the enormous amount of people applying, they just haven’t updated it on my account? I sent it on October 11.

It can take up to 2 weeks. If it doesn’t show up by Monday, I’d call and ask if they have it.

I emailed MSU about it a couple days ago, but they never replied.

My daughter got her acceptance letter today! (looks like it was on the portal 10/24) she applied 10/6! Go green! Go white!

Still haven’t gotten any update on admission. There are people who got in in a week.

Same here. I haven’t heard anything and all my stuff was received 9/9, but people that applied a week ago are already admitted.

Applied 8/13/2014, All Documents received 8/19
GPA- 3.3 UW
ACT- 21
EC- Varsity Swim & Dive, Great Lakes Tritons Swim Team
Dual Enrolled @ Macomb Community College
Applied for undecided business major

Portal changed on 10/29/14, offered admission around 10:15 am.

So I sent my ACT on 10/11 and they told me they received it on 10/20 when I called. My document status for my ACT is still “Awaiting”. How come people who applied after me are getting in before me? I didn’t put MSU down on the ACT to send it to them for free… I’m applying to James Madison College which is first come, first serve, so I hope this doesn’t jeopardize my admittance to there. Come on now…

I was accepted this week! GO GREEN! My act was 23 and I have a 3.9 for anyone with similar stats!

Melissa when did you apply?

I applied early September then heard ack a few weeks ago to change my senior year schedule, so I did and I just got accepted for fall last Thursday!
