Class of 2019 Applications and Acceptance

@cantwaittoknow‌
I was accepted to U-of-O several weeks ago, and just got my financial aid award in the mail a couple of days ago. On it, they awarded me the money from filling out the FAFSA (Federal Pell Grant), and the rest was stuff about work-study, Subsidized Loans, Family Loans, etc. Absolutely nothing about scholarships of any sort.

Does this mean that I received NO money, other than federal aid? I was under the impression that I was a very good student and applicant (my admissions adviser talked with the heads of admission directly so that they could sweep some of the requirements for admission under the rug). Confused, because without scholarships or some kind of aid, I probably won’t be able to pay the exorbitant amount of education, or will at least graduate with a significant amount of student loans.

I believe I cover the requirements for Apex and Summit, and figured I could at least receive one of these awards. Knowing I had a significant chance of receiving those was a large part of the reason why I applied to Oregon in the first place!

Anyhooooo, anybody know any information about this?

@Jolex2‌ It may be helpful for you to start a new thread with your question. More people with knowledge about financial aid would see your post. Good luck with your journey!

@Jolex2‌ My understanding is that the Apex and Summit awards are automatically given if you meet the criteria. I’d suggest that you review the criteria to make sure you really meet them, and then call the financial aid office and ask them for clarification.

@cantwaittoknow‌
I just looked at my grades, and the scholarship criteria. I should be okay for both the Summit and Apex scholarships. I am going to call later today, and ask around about whats going on.

@Jolex2‌ Please report back on what you find out!

Hi I was wondering how long did it take for you to hear back after applying? Thanks. My son has a 3.6 gpa and 1827 SAT. He’s a junior and plans to take it again.
