Class of 2019 Boston College Early Action

Yes, mine is normal again.

@collegemomjam‌- I don’t think you need to worry about the portal change asking for a birthdate and eagle ID. The portal usually does not need that info so I am unsure why it asked your daughter for it. The portal will change approximately 3-4 days after the letters are mailed out. If an F and a P are at the top then you are now able to pay your deposit. Good luck to your daughter. The waiting is so stressful!

Thanks dreambig101…I just wasn’t sure if it meant that they were about to update something that was a “sign” or not. I guess we will just have to wait the week or more out! Good luck to everyone!

wait how can poeple who heard back from georgetown 2 days ago recieve a notifcation from BC’s early action? Istn georgetown single action policy? meaning that you can only apply to their school early action?

No, Georgetown is not single choice early action. They do request that you do not apply to any school ED if you are applying to them EA.

I’m really really nervous :(

So I applied early action to bc(obviously) and a week after I submitted my application I reveived a confirmation from bc saying they recieved my application. However, since then I have not heard anything from them regarding a portal account. I have a friend who experienced the same dilemma. we only recently discovered this by talking to other applicants from our school. We both checked all of out mail boxes(spam, trash, deleted) and found nothing. I know that the portal does not necessarily provide us with admissions decision but it does concern me. Any suggestions or thoughts.

@leigh322 the portal lets you know if there is any outstanding information that needs to be sent like SAT scores and transcripts, and if you get accepted it will be where you pay a deposit if you decide to attend. I would email your admissions counselor at BC and let them know you never got an email about activating a portal.

Do admission decisions get mailed by First Class tomorrow? When would they arrive to Southern California???

We keep hearing they will be mailed on Friday, but maybe they mean “by Friday?” Not sure. What made you think they were being mailed tomorrow, meaning today I guess?

Hey @mfrias. You are a lot like me! I have decent scores/academics. 1940 SAT and a 3.63 UW GPA with 5 APs… Captain of the Hockey and Lacrosse… NHS, MHS, SHS, Vlogger and Blogger for Onthewater.com, Founder of anti-drunk driving organization, solid essays, white jewish male from cape cod… I would say you have me on ethnicity and geographic location which are pretty big. Other than that, I hope they like athletes! Good luck

In post 218, Devlin Hall, a live BC admissions representative posted that letters will be mailed on Friday. (Think about it…thousands of packages need to get stamped and picked up; just can’t drop off at the local mail box. Thus, colleges schedule a mail truck to come and pick them up and take directly to the USPS distribution center. Worst case, pickup is late pm. West Coast & International folks get hosed in this process, btw.)

Good luck to all. An awesome educational experience, BC is worth the wait.

@collegemomjam‌ I read a post from a few years ago that they send letters out the 16th of December. But then again, that was an old post. Unfortunately for me, I live extremely far from Boston and will probably be the last one to get the letter.

If they are mailed out on Friday does anyone know when NJ would get them?

I would assume around saturday. Monday at the latest. The mail is fairly quick. I’m in NJ too and very hopeful

Hey guys! I was wondering what safety/match schools you guys applied to that might be similar to BC??

I applied to Umass Amherst as my safety school. Got accepted yesterday with 12k merit scholarship (OOS). BC is definitely my first choice and I am so nervous to hear back!

How am I just now seeing this thread?? I applied EA to Boston College as well! It’s my #1 and I would go in a heartbeat!! Friday (or whenever the letter gets here) can’t come soon enough!! Super SUPER nervous!! Does anyone know which applicant period is easier to be accepted into… early or regular? I’ve heard both! Thanks guys!!!<3

@nnocnat2 I’ve heard that EA can be more difficult because the applicant pool is more competitive. However, the acceptance rate tends to be slightly higher for EA as well.
