Class of 2019 Boston College Early Action

@jellyfishh @student197 I think 1 would be tough to talk about yourself. 3 and 4 are probably the easiest to talk about yourself, but I didn’t want an essay that sounded like listing my extracurriculars. Are you guys going to write a long anecdote to represent what you want to say or explicitly talk about questions?

@eniam666 @jellyfishh @student197 how are your applications going?!?

I decided to apply RD so my class rank goes up a tad

how are everyone’s apps going??

I decided to apply regular decision also.

is anybody else thinking that they might die of anxiety before we get our decisions?

ME!! I’m still not done with supp. I’m not gonna sleep until I finish :frowning:
@SMarie

I remember at the BC tour they said it was harder to get in EA, unlike many other schools. BC said they take the top applicants only in EA. What I don’t remember is if you can get an outright rejection through EA or do you automatically get deferred into RD. Does anyone know? Thanks

If BC chooses not to accept you for EA, but believes your application has enough merit to be considered with the larger pool of RA applications, then it will defer you to RA.

Like many of you, Georgetown and BC are also my top choices. I can’t wait for decisions!

Does anyone know roughly how long before Christmas we will hear back? Thanks.

there is no guarantee that your mail from Chestnut Hill will be delivered by the 24th…if they mail Friday, the 19th, 99.9% of the domestic envelopes will be delivered by Wed, the 24th. But, if BC does not mail until Monday, it is highly unlikely west coast envelopes will arrive in two days.

Good luck.

OK, thank you.

@student197 have you found confimation that BC is a 100% need meeting school? I also read that but now i’m not so sure

BC is definitely need-blind in admissions, and it meets full (100%) of financial need. But like all 100% need schools, “need” is calculated by the college. And you will find that the more selective colleges (top ~10) calculate need more generously than those farther down the food chain. The big difference is in the use of home equity. HYPS will cap the home equity in the calculation of need, but most private schools, including BC, do not.

Can the first person on the site to get their acceptance/rejection letter for early action post the decision, date of letter, and area where you live? it just makes me less anxious when the time comes

does anyone know if we are suppose to send our first quarter grades (4 quarter system)? I know we are suppose to send our mid year report but are we suppose to send first quarter also to the schools we applied early to?

@ineversleep‌- if you applied EA, you will need to send your quarter grades for admissions to review. If you applied RA, your first semester grades should be sent. Good luck!!!
