Class of 2019 Boston College Early Action

Has Anybody had an acceptance letter, but no change in the portal?

^^^^

is anyone sure that the portal change means acceptance? because mine didn’t change ://

@jxnnx97‌ did you receive your acceptance letter in the mail?

@blueeyes1997 nope

Can anyone confirm that the portal change means acceptance? I don’t know if I can wait for my letter any longer.

No letter today here in Miami… Mailman even double checked for me…

Pretty obvious that, absent any mistakes, if you got a portal change, you almost certainly got in. What’s not clear is whether, if you didn’t get a portal change, that necessarily means you didn’t get in. Don’t know if the portal changes happened all at once, or are going slowly across the nation - like state by state, alphabetically, or some other way. Anyone from the west coast seen a portal change? And, if so, where are you and what is the first letter of your last name, etc?

are the letters coming today for sure? or is tomorrow still an option? has anyone in the east coast (virginia maryland dc area) gotten their letters yet?

@jxnnx97‌ I saw someone on Twitter get a letter in Virginia

@meepgirl‌ yeah, I live in california, and my friend (also in CA) got the portal change last night. His last name starts with a W.

I live in Ohio. I got my mail today and I was deferred. Just wait on the letter don’t look at the portal.

Guys @helicoptermom24‌ posted last year on the BC EA thread and said that her daughters portals updated several days after the acceptance letter arrived.

@Mfrias‌ so basically, her daughter got in with no portal change, then it updated a couple days later?

@DcMoon34‌ yep, that’s what she said… Crossing my fingers that this miracle happens to us. Even though this gives me hope, I doubt that it will come true for us :/

@DevlinHall208‌ are all portal changes finished today or will there be more portal changes throughout the week for admitted students?

If your portal changed, obviously you were admitted - congratulations! If your portal did not, you were either deferred or rejected, and you won’t know for sure until you get your letters. HIGHLY unlikely you are accepted and your portal didn’t change. BC would change the portal for everyone at the same time, makes no sense to stagger - the decision is the same regardless. Admissions’ tweet that their stance remains that official decisions are revealed by letter and not a portal change is merely a CYA in case there were any mistakes made with the portal process - it is possible (but unlikely) your portal changed by mistake and you were actually rejected! However, only last week Johns Hopkins sent out erroneous congratulatory emails to several hundred rejected students, which caused a lot of frustration and embarrassment for JHU.

Long story short - portal change- you’re in, no change - deferred or rejected. My son’s portal did not change, so now the wait for the small thin letter… Basically same stats and EC’s as everyone else, both accepted and rejected. Unfortunately, so many apply with almost identical credentials it’s become a crap-shoot for admissions. I can’t believe EA applications are almost double what they were last year - what a shame for those kids whose first choice is BC being pushed out by those accepted who really have no intention of attending.

hey guys i live in the northern virginia area and i just got my letter got deferred i wish you all luck!

Any portal changes in Virginia?
