Class of 2019 MIT EA Discussion Thread

Did you guys get the deferred status at 3:16? Or did you get it earlier?
By the way, EA, I also got deferred.

lol deferred as well…ivy league going hard with the deferrals this year

MIT isn’t even any ivy though :frowning:

Here’s to hoping Penn doesn’t disappoint me on Monday

I GOT ACCEPTED!!!

@homozapien24 CONGRATS! At least someone got in!

So, as proof that a long-term dedication to science puts holes in your brain, I thought decisions were being released at 12:15, and I opened the decisions thread and was puzzled that there weren’t any posts in it yet.

I don’t even have a time zone confusion to use as an excuse – I’m actually just up Mass Ave in the lab today.

AdMITted. :)

Congratulations to those who were admitted!

QQ more waiting…

What are the chances of admission after being deferred? Should I just let go of this school?

deferred.

However, a half black legacy with average stats from my school was accepted. shocker

@scarlettlovesivy i’d also love to see some responses to this question

@scarlettlovesivy, last year about 3.5% of deferred EA applicants were eventually admitted.

<a href=“Admissions statistics | MIT Admissions”>http://mitadmissions.org/apply/process/stats

My son was deferred, too.

To those of you whose application has been deferred - so was my son’s two years ago. We panicked a little and he applied to a bunch of other schools. In the meantime, he kept MIT informed of new accomplishments, an email here and there and a complete update when requested. He is now working his ass off as a sophomore at the 'tute. Ball is in your court now to hope for the best and work on your update or give up. From what I can tell, you will not succeed at MIT without hard work and perseverance. As with other challenges in life, @az2591, focus on what you can control and remember, many of those with rejections today would happily trade places with you.

It’s possible that they’re changing strategies a bit now that they’re admitting a larger percentage of the class EA, but in past years (i.e. not last year), about the same number of EA applicants were admitted RD as were admitted EA.

Class of 2018 - 612 adMITted EA. 164 EA applicants adMITted RD

welp didn’t even realize MIT isn’t ivy league
brain already left on winter break

How many people are deferred would you guys say?

@scarlettlovesivy There was 4456 deferred out of 6159.

625 accepted and 1327 rejected.

Deferred. This wait is hard. And more hard work from now till March.
Accepted in Purdue. Waiting eagerly for others. Really want to be done with this wait. It is too stressful for the whole family.
