My son just got his scores from the October 2017 test. Any idea when the index scores are released and how they’re calculated each year?
The index score and how it is calculated are contained in the score report itself. But, you can do it yourself if you don’t yet have access to the report. Take the reading, writing and math scores (each will be out of a possible 38 total), add together and double.
You can calculate the index, just double the EBRW, add the Math and drop a zero. Example: 740 EBRW 700 Math = 2x740 + 700 = 2180, Selection Index = 218.
The cutoff for commended is national, but each state has a separate cutoff determined by the NMSC. The actual cutoffs are not released, the test prep companies back into the numbers by gathering the data.
