Thought I would create this for parents who are looking for more information about Wellesley. D was accepted ED - she’s extremely excited to get onto campus. How are other parents doing?
@Wellesleyparent
Congradulations. It is an exciting time for your D and of course for the parents.
Hello @tamtiger, thank you for your greeting, and yes it’s an exciting time for parents and of course the students.
@Wellesleyparent
I remember the joy and glee in my D, when she got in to Wellesley in EE. That was her chosen school and nothing could change her mind. And the excitement caught on to me once she convinced me that she was right…
I guess I was more excited than her during the summer getting ready to go to college. I think, I still know more about Wellesley than her …
If there is anything you would like to know [from a parental perspective] please feel free ask. There are several other W parents who perhaps may have better knowledge than me as well.
It is an amazing college, your D will enjoy it.
My D made the commitment to Wellesley today. I think it’s a great school and a wonderful opportunity, but I’m sad that she’s going to be so far away. We live in the Midwest, so we won’t be dropping in to visit and take her out for lunch.
I’m also a new Wellesely mom from the Midwest. Congrats to your D!
Congrats to your D, too, @simplemom. Does anyone know if there’s anything scheduled for parents and families on drop-off day? We’re trying to plan and we’re wondering how much time we might spend on or near campus.
We live reasonably close to Wellesley. I’d be happy to answer any question about being in Massachusetts.
@maddogmom , it has been a few years but when our D moved in her first year, there were scheduled events for families and parents. Some events were with your D and some were separate while they had their own activities. There was also a point when we were invited to leave in the late afternoon. It’s a somewhat structured schedule and it will be busy.
Hi - new Wellesley mom here too. D will be coming from the US Virgin Islands. I googled last year’s orientation schedule just to get an idea on purchasing airline tickets. It looks like parents and kids say goodbye at the end of the day on Monday. We will still be in the area for another night after that, so I told her if it works out maybe we can take her and her roommate for ice cream or coffee or something - but otherwise it looks like we are out of there at the end of the day Monday.
Hi, thanks for making this page. I have two of my triplets joining the Class of 2019.( The 3rd is a boy) They are both very excited. I am in Connecticut so only 2 hours away. Far enough to let them be independent, and close enough when and if the need arises.
@emah24 - How exciting for them to get to go together! Will they room together - or are they ready to spread their wings?
@DebraOfUSVI , they are not rooming together. Their lifestyles and study styles are very different. I can only imagine what would happen if they were ever placed together.
My D met your girls at SOC! She was so happy when she found out they committed.
@simplemom , what is your daughter’s first name? Wondering if she is one that I heard lots about.
Well…we are officially down to counting days! What about you other parents??
The bill came! It’s real now!
@redpoodles – I know right! Making that first payment was a little daunting!
