Class of 2019 Prospectives

Hello!
I’m applying to American University early decision in a few weeks and wanted to get a discussion going for others who are applying to AU this year!

I’m applying to AU this year as well  only regular decision

I’m applying ED as well!!

Awesome! Good luck!! What are you guys interested in studying? I want to major in Film and Media Arts and Graphic Design.

I’m applying ED! I want to study international studies. Good luck to you all!!!

@khundz‌ That’s awesome! Good luck! :)

I’m applying RD for business and entertainment!

My son applied ED1 last year. I read somewhere that American took more ED students than ever before last year.

applying RD! anyone doing an interview? did one a few weeks ago & i’d be happy to share what happened

I am applying RD for international studies!

polscimezzo- I have one this weekend. how did yours go?

I’m applying ED2… Maybe. I’m interested in international studies

@dianaasanchezz‌ Your best bet is to make sure you know a lot about your favorite programs at AU/your top reasons to go there.

Be sure to have a few questions, too, and try and connect with the alumni interviewer as they introduce themselves and what they did at AU.

Having clear, well thought out answers to what you want to study, why, and your own personal background will help your confidence and ability to perform well in the interview.
However, avoid sounding too rehearsed.

I’m applying RD for PR & Strategic Communications. hope to send in my application within the next week or so

Interviews are overrated. Getting into AU is basically a numbers game

I participated in the overnight program last weekend. It was really fun to meet other prospective students. Good luck to everyone applying!

I think interviews do help at American because they show your interest in the school. I really recommend it if you have a lower GPA or SAT scores. When the school has to decide between two students who are basically equal and one interviewed or visited and the other didn’t, who do you think they will choose? The more contact you have with the college you are interested in, the better.

Found the info on ED students from the class of 2018, here is the quote: AU will welcome a freshman class this fall that’s as strong and talented as prior crops of students. Early decision applicants, those who declared AU as their first choice, numbered 950 - the largest in AU history. Early decision applicants will constitute more than one-third of the Class of 2018.

@polscimezzo‌ did you dress business casual?

I’m applying RD sometime this week or the next. I might go with polisci, but I’ve chosen undeclared as of right now!
