@mjk545 It’s possible since they clearly have all of them done, but don’t hold your breath
Guys did anyone here not get the email that says decisions will be out Sunday?
@sallywoot check the spam or junk mail. That is where I found mine
So my daughter fits all the stats EXCEPT leadership…but I noticed they said “or” major award. She received a prestigious state-wide art award … Wondering if I should prepare for the worst (she’s already written it off b/C rejected at WashU so it’s just anxious mom here clinging to hope).
Good luck you guys. I remember being as nervous as you are now…
@swimmom2020 I meet all except the leadership/award as well. I was team leader for our RWDC engineering competition team but I don’t know if that counts.
i was waitlisted after being deferred at UChicago but got into Vandy early through mosaic + chancellor’s scholarship so there is definitely a chance! don’t lose hope i’m honestly not spectacular in any way but somehow it worked out
Good luck to everyone. In response to above posts, the academic profile needed for admission at Vandy is higher than those needed at Rice, Northwestern, and Duke and similar to those at UC and WashSL. They also place weight on students who have excelled in the fine arts.
With The Princeton Review ranking Vandy students the happiest in the country I suspect there will be more demand, more selectivity, and a higher yield as millennial students want the whole package.
Hey, current student checking in here. Good luck tomorrow. This is school is alright, but it’s nothing to lose your mind over. Our acceptance rate went up a little bit this year, so hopefully that’s a positive.
@tysonisasaint thanks! Could you tell us a bit more about your experience? Doesn’t sound like you’re too ecstatic about being at Vandy… is that right?
Agh yay!! I really hope I get in! How will I even sleep tonight???
Yeah, that 36 in science is whats gonna stop you from getting in…
Son applied. We are anxious to see what happens tomorrow. He’s in at Miami and UF, waitlisted at MIT.
Kevinsmom,
He also applied to Rice and Northwestern.
@bud123
I’m just curious as to your basis for stating that. If you look at the comparative stats, Duke had an acceptance rate of 10.8% for the class of 2018 while Vanderbilt had one of around 13.1%. If you look at the rankings, Duke is tied for 8th place in national universities whIle Vandy is tied for 16th. Looking at the middle SAT score ranges, Duke had one between 32-35 overall and Vandy’s was a very comparable 32-34. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Vanderbilt and will be the first to defend it but I won’t stand for someone throwing around false generalizations. I am not acquainted enough with NW to defend it but I really think you should shy from throwing around baseless claims. Best of luck tomorrow though
Jonathan Wai, a Duke University Talent Identification Program researcher, calculated a ranking of America’s colleges and universities that reported SAT or ACT scores in 2014 U.S. News rankings. This ranking is based purely on smarts, as reflected by the school’s average scores on standardized tests (His team translated ACT scores into SAT scores (math + verbal) so that all schools could be compared using one metric). These are top 20 “Smartest Colleges” in the US. If you are interested in test scores, see where Vandy and other elite schools are in this statistical ranking.

how many hours left?
@doubleeternity many of those schools recruit athletes who therefore might bring down the overall test scores
Haha. I’ve been refraining from counting the hours all morning. Oh well at least I’ll be in church for a decent portion of the wait
Today’s the day!! With my 31 ACT I’m expecting a rejection, but good luck to the rest of you!! If Vanderbilt accepted you, congrats; if not, it’s their loss. You’re all awesome people and I wish you all nothing but success for the future!!
