@4thtime I appreciate your guidance and the time you took to respond. This really is the most realistic thread out there. We are far from most of the schools and this really has been a journey for our family. My daughter has been wonderful throughout. I was expecting temper tantrums and snarky comments and she was a funny, delightful companion. I have enjoyed every minute as there are not many left. Thank you all for giving me perspective. If she gets in, she gets in, if not, well on to plan B and she can reaudition next year. As you said college is for exploration and learning. Thank you wonderful strangers for being the voice of reason.
@AlphaScorpii I’d be happy to offer my wisdom! CC has been a fantastic source of information for me while navigating this process, I would love to pay it forward. Feel free to pm me anytime, I won’t be off of here anytime soon
@4461flmom & @GSOMTMom were correct. Point Park kids Can take classes at CMU. And vice-versa.
It’s part of the Pittsburgh Council on Higher Education known as Cross-Registration.
You can take up to (1) class per semester at anyone of the following institutions:
-Carlow University
-Carnegie Mellon University
-Chatham University
-Community College of Allegheny County
-Duquesne University
-LaRoche College
-Pittsburgh Theological Seminary
-Point Park University
-Robert Morris University
-University of Pittsburgh
They do not show up on your transcript as another school, but you do get the experience.
So if you were concerned that PPU doesn’t have a music school, you could take a class at CMU or Duquesne Univ. which has an well-respected music school at no extra charge. Many CMU do take dance classes at PPU since that is what they’re renowned for. There has to be an opening in the class, and their own kids get priority, but lots of kids take advantage of this program.

The original post on the Point Park students taking classes at CMU was concerning the ACTING classes. Cross registration is common at many schools located near one another. But can PPU students truly take the ACTING classes in the BFA Drama program at CMU? That was what was being addressed. Just wondering on that one thing, thanks.
I know of no students at PPU taking conservatory classes at CMU–neither do any of the students I know. The two schools do share some adjunct faculty. One example of the close relationship between the schools is Tome Cousins. He received his degree from PPU, teaches dance at CMU and directs, at times, at both. And, yes, it is not uncommon to find CMU students in the dance classes at PPU,
@soozievt , I’m sure you didn’t intend this but your response came off as a bit rude. While the ACTING class wasn’t explicitly addressed, I appreciated the information given as I didn’t know about the cross registration and thought it interesting.
GSOMTMom, sorry if you found my post to be rude. I was trying to get clarification since the original question was asking about PPU students taking acting classes at CMU and I had never heard of that. Sure, it is helpful to learn about cross registration in other regards between these universities. No problem. I was just trying to find out if this pertains to acting classes since that was the question that was posed and I was curious because someone heard it was possible but that was news to me. Someone has since posted that they also don’t know of any PPU students who have been able to take acting classes at CMU. That was all. Extra information on other things of interest are fine too. I don’t think I was being rude in trying to find out about the original question. It didn’t mean that any other information wasn’t nice to read too.
I think my posts follow the guidelines for posting on CC. Sorry if you found my post rude. Talking about other members is what CC doesn’t permit.
Hopefully, everyone has gotten the information they are seeking and can carry on with MT topics, rather than discussing one another!
Take a deep breath, everyone. Communicating in this format can be difficult and intent and tone may be misconstrued (or maybe not). Try to ignore what is irritating to you and just move on. If you want to be snarky, PM.
Sheesh. I was the one who asked the question based on moms talking at an audition. It was out of curiosity. I didn’t mean to cause a big hullabaloo. I love this thread and will continue to use silly words so that this will no longer happen. I am switching from tequilla to vodka. And please in the future, can we all agree the only thing we will post in all caps is when ou r kids get a letter ,call or email of acceptance? Thanks again for listening. I value all of you.
@pghmusician Thank you! Fabulous info!
Hullaballoo happens.
Hi - I am a relatively new member and learning so much from these forums. Has anyone received a rejection from Pace?
From other posts my understanding is that acceptance phone calls have been made, however I am not aware of any letters being received as of yet, my daughter included. There is another thread for PACE called Pace MT decisions? You may want to bookmark thread.
We got our official rejection from FSU today. Not a surprise. They want my D to go into their BA Theater program.
She is not interested, however it eases the pain of not getting in. At least that is what I keep telling myself.
I’m sorry, @4461flmom—hang in there!
Last year I remember that the Pace letter took between one to two weeks to arrive after the MT calls had gone out. I think it was on the higher end of that range. It seemed like it anyway…
Hi everyone,
frustration is making me come out of my exile and join in…
seems my daughter is awaiting a Pace letter as well, no phone call here. Too bad, she loved their school!
Also in Ithaca Limbo… Portal is still open… Does anyone know if there is any hope?
Thinking good thoughts for all of your children… Hoping they all are neighbors in Hells Kitchen someday…
@Momofnine
I read your post too quickly and just read this “hope all your kids are neighbors in hell”
I was like, ‘WHAT JUST HAPPENED & WHAT DID I MISS?’
rolfmao!!
:))
Ha ha. Ok KaMaMom… Chelsea… Hope they become working actors and live in Chelsea!
Hey, I hope they’re all wildly successful actors living in Bel Air or on Park Avenue!!!
