Wasn’t Michigan one of the 1st (if not the 1st) schools to use the prescreen? Now that they are becoming more common, maybe they feel the need to set theirs apart…

And just be prepared- waiting is the primary theme of the BFA process

In other words, you better do it.

@MTmom2015 Michigan added that random prompt in last year - also caught us by surprise. I filmed D’s response on my iPhone in our living room - and got it done. I think it’s supposed to be relatively short - and she did pass their pre-screen - so the fact that we did it on the fly like that did not seem to hurt us. Sorry it caught you off guard too! We had a whole discussion last year on the 2018 venting thread about it!

It’s not at all a big deal to do it… and obviously ‘optional’ is not an option with UofM. I just wish we had known when we were in the ‘pre-screen’ mode… with camera, mic, lighting, etc.

Finally feel like I am getting something done! I hate having a million things “in-process” @Divamamacita you are my inspiration! Finally have 4 of 5 pre-screens submitted, one audition scheduled and 3 applications submitted via the common app!

Wish we had known to check the acceptd site prior to uploading. There were unexpected supplements and different directions for the sequencing of the pre-screen video that we had not expected. What a let down it was to finally be ready to upload the pre-screen only to discover son had to write a mini-essay, or totally re-edit the pre-screen, ugh!

For what its worth S didn’t do the optional MI question, he made it past the prescreen but withdrew before the live audition.

D just sent in her first set of academic applications! No nausea here. Just enjoyed a quick “wohoo!”, then “next thing?” Prescreen materials are mostly uploaded and ready to “submit.” Ordered headshots. Check. First rolling admission audition is scheduled for November. Check. D is excited about one particular college visit that is coming up in October. D is also already planning to meet up with friends from all over the US that she made this summer at camp during auditions. The magic of Skyping, Facetime , Vine, etc… This audition-season-train has left the station and is chugging along, folks! One of D’s non MT friends just posted her acceptance letter from her dream school. Really. This train ride is going to be a loooong one folks. Thank goodness for CC!

WOOHOOOOO, @addicted2MT!!!

Here we go gang!! Congrats on all the submissions and academic acceptances!!! Submitted 2 prescreens out of a whole more!! Barf…

We had an early deadline (10/1) so figured we’d go ahead and get everything submitted around that date. We have 5 of 8 pre screens submitted, 3 non-pre-screen auditions scheduled, 2 academic acceptances, 7 of 11 academic applications submitted. The list is getting shorter, which feels great! Wishing everyone good vibes and easy processes.

I feel behind the power curve… No prescreen submissions yet, and it’s stressing me out! My daughter has filmed the monologues, and wont film the songs or dance for a few weeks! I’m hoping for Oct 20th…hoping that’s not too late to get responses in time to get good audition date options!
On the other hand, we have submitted 10 common apps and 5 additional…only 4 more to go!

Go at your own pace @MTkellbell ! I’ve heard that anything before Halloween is early enough!

@mtkellbell … if you’re behind, we are behind you! We have nothing filmed. Heck, D barely has one of her monologues memorized.

Congratulations to all of you, you are doing great! Now the “fun” begins and you will hear the results from the pre-screens making it all the more real. Wishing positive results for all. BAL!!!

Don’t feel bad about not having the prescreens filmed yet. Last year The D didn’t film until mid-November and submitted them the week of Thanksgiving. She passed them all and was able to get the audition dates needed to make Unifieds happen. Noooooo problem!! I lie, the problem was having to wait over Thanksgiving break to find out if she passed!!!

Hang in there, guys! I am still sweating getting my D’s recommenders going! They have had the prompts since September 1 and just keep procrastinating. Just two apps left for her safeties and she worked on one of those tonight. Keeping our fingers crossed for Elon prescreen results tomorrow.

Colleges are not sweating the recommenders- will not impact the early portion of your kid’s applications. In fact, I have known kids to get admitted to their safeties (with strong stats) even before all the recommendations were in. In my understanding, recommendations can tip a balance, but are rarely of prime importance in admissions.

Congrats to those who’ve gotten apps submitted, prescreens uploaded and recommendations in. For the rest of you – keep working - but don’t worry too much!! Sounds like you all are doing a great job and are really on top of the application process! You will find that the people here on CC are some of the most prepared in this process. Over achievers so to speak - not in a bad way So don’t be intimidated just because some people are already done with certain steps. The great thing about CC is that so many wonderful people are willing to share their experiences, you can learn a lot from those who might be a step or two ahead of you. But there is still plenty of time. Just work hard and keep your eye on the prize. Good luck to all!
