@VaoCoolio Lol bhai mujhe toh email bhi nahi mila, just shows no scores on my CB portal when I login

The College Board is probably the worst thing that happened since the introduction of standardized testing

@Squashie Chalo you should be glad that you’re going to Amherst since it is the only college that has taken this delay into consideration. https://www.amherst.edu/admission/apply/dec-2014-sat-score-release-delay
You should email CB to get an official response tho.

^ why do u guys email on such important matters, they rarely reply. try calling and telling them the delayed scores are on them and they need to tell the universities about their issues. otherwise you’ll sue them. :P

@am291x ya sure m8, only if they pick up their phones -.-
Christmas, new year; these goras are partying af

@VaoCoolio even after the hols end, u’ll be better off calling instead of mailing… :P

Hey, guys, I just noticed a mistake in my common app after I sent it in. I wrote my required explanation for my gap year back in October for Georgia Tech. I remember I was very satisfied with my application then, just skimmed through it and then sent it in to Northwestern and Carnegie Mellon a few days ago, the latter of which is my top choice. Unfortunately, I just realised that my explanation says, “I will do this in November”, and “I will do that in December” when talking about my plans.

How bad is this? I haven’t given in my CMU supplement yet and CMU asks me to give a separate explanation for the gap year. Should I acknowledge this in that part of the app? I really don’t want my CMU admission to be adversely affected. ):

Okay, never mind, guys. I just sent it in.

Hello everyone! I’m new here so I’m hoping this is the right place to post this.
I’m a Pakistani student, belong to an average middle-class family currently enrolled in my final year of A levels i.e. A2. I have been searching for the ‘Perfect Match’ that caters my needs and offers a good enough education since last summer but I still haven’t been able to content myself with a concrete institute of choice. My preferred major of choice is Aerospace engineering, although I do find Computer science and software engineering equally interesting.
I have decent grades in my GCSEs, 6As & 3Bs specifically (As in Physics, Chem, Computer, Accounts but an embarrassing B in Mathematics). Currently I have four subjects for my A levels and I’m studying on a 50% scholarship with a decent A1 transcript; the subjects include, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Urdu. (In A1, I took the OCR Media Studies in place of Urdu and scored As throughout. However, due to the amount of time it requires, I had to drop it).
I have an exceptional extracurricular record with experiences in a wide range of events from Science to sports to even business (which isn’t my area of expertise). Moreover, I have great LORs.
I’ve appeared for the SAT Reasoning Test and SAT Subject Test, both of which didn’t go so well. I scored badly in SAT 2 with Maths level 1 score a mere 620 and Physics 600. I’m reappearing for SAT 1 this January. However, this substantially damages my university applications for the States which has put me further down the pit I was already in. The problem is expenses, I belong to an average family and they can’t afford the unrealistically huge amount of tuition fee all the universities require these days so I have been trying to limit myself to apply to only those universities which are actually affordable (or where I might get aid).
I’ve researched universities almost all around the world and found some pretty amazing ones Europe with no tuition fee (with many courses offered in English, however their rankings aren’t extremely amazing so I have been really confused with respect to what to do).
I would really appreciate if someone could help me out and guide me if to whether to go for these lower ranked universities than take a chance with the highly ranked universities aiming for a scholarship (which is harder considering the competition these days and although my grades and scores are an inaccurate reflection of my potential but they still do matter!).
So far, I’ve only applied to my dream school which is mit, which is a huge reach for pretty much everyone out there but I didn’t want to regret not applying later as the saying goes, “You can’t learn how to swim, if you don’t jump into the water”.
(P.S. How bad, is the idea of studying in a foreign language?)
Hey Guys! I’m also a newbie to CC!
So excited to be here and get to know me fellow Pakistani Class of 2019’s!
So I’m from Karachi, in my senior year at grammar! I have straight A’s and As through high school and 6As 3A’s in my GCSE’s and 4 A’s in As level (Math Chem Physics and Econ). My SAT Score is 2260 and SAT 2 is 800 in Math2 and 780 in Chem! The extracurriculars aren’t that all impressive, its mostly the regular 3 or 4 community service/teaching activities, O level Soccer School team, 9th grade Soccer and Athletic School teams blah blah! I’ve applied to a few ivies ( Princeton dream school but definitely not happening!), UCLA and Berkeley, Northwestern, Nyu, michigan, georgia tech etc. I know my list is certainly ambitious but I’m really hoping for something!
I know its early but i was wondering if any of you guys have started receiving interview emails. Also which prestigious universities actually hold alumni interviews in Pakistan ( Penn does, Cornell doesn’t i think)? I’m interested in Chemical engineering but plan to go to university with an open mind to all majors that my interest me there! Do you guys think i have any chance at these type of schools? Not really applying for aid unless their need-blind like Harvard or Dartmouth.
Hello everyone!
I am currently a sophomore at Washington University in St. Louis. I am from Lahore, Pakistan and have had an amazing experience at WashU so far. I wanted to reach out to everyone who’s applying to US colleges and encourage them to apply to WashU since it is such a great school. It does not have an extra supplement and all you need to do is send the Common App by Jan 15th (Regular Decision deadline). There are hardly any Pakistani students at WashU and that factor can be really beneficial for anyone with decent stats. The business school has a Top 5 undergrad program and has an amazing reputation as well. All other schools within the university are great too. There is no reason for people to not apply Please feel free to reach out to me for any genuine questions or concerns. I’ll try my best to answer them. Although please refrain from asking me to chance you since I am no admissions expert haha.
PS: Someone else in a different thread wrote a comprehensive post talking about WashU’s credentials and it’s very informative. I am copying the link here:

Hey, @Maaz997. How easy is it to transfer to Olin from the School of Engineering?
It is super easy. I personally know at least three people who switched to engineering after Freshman year. The school has no issues with that as long as people can comfortably fit in all required classes for their new major in the remaining years. Switching majors within a school is super easy, too. It is literally a click away.
Any news on Oxbridge acceptances from Lahore or Islamabad? It has been a really good year for KGS
2 girls from LGS 55 Main got into Oxford.
Boy from AC got into Cambridge
I feel really weird asking you guys about LUMS with most of you applying to ivys but please tell me if A2 midterms matter for LUMS.
I got straight Bs in mids. And a1920 in dec sat. I’m going to take it in january. But still what are my chances of getting into lums?
@Craycray What about the rest of your application? It is difficult to say with only the information you’ve provided. A2 midterms I believe, are not required.
I’ll get good reccomendations. My extracurriculars are pretty good. I got 5A*s 3As 1B(urdu) in Olevels.
