Class of 2019

Son was just accepted for Class of 2019 and we were wondering why the board is so dead. Any parents of recently admitted students out there? We're planning a trip to Tulsa next month and would love to connect with parents whose kids are currently enrolled.

My S was accepted too and we just visited last week. Have you visited yet, @BocaTerp‌ ?

My son was accepted to Class of 2019 as well - just waiting to hear about NMF and, hopefully, Presidential. Do you think they make any allowances for not showing total interest, as my son is heavily relied on for one on his ECs, in particular, and cannot make the out-of-town visit to Tulsa Time. He made one campus visit and attended the TU reception in our hometown.

We visited campus during summer and it was very dead. Hardly any students around. For those of you have visited the campus recently, what are your thoughts about the school?

It sounds like scholarships (other than Presidential) will be relaseed around the Tulsa Time. I wiish they will send out scholarship infomation before the Tulsa Time so we can decide to make the trip or not.

^^deborahb^^ sorry for the late response…no, had to postpone the visit as son was invited to Baylor2 as a finalist for their early Med School entry program…still trying to get to Tulsa as you have to visit/interview to be able to get the Presidential…hope he has enough time.

No problem @bocaterp – we visited campus two weeks ago. Our admissions officer had a full day planned - very well organized. My S got to meet with the track coach, who was very affirming. The campus is spacious and beautifully maintained and everything was very clean. Even the freshman dorm was nice. My S attended a class and met with the head of the Chem E department. My S moved Tulsa up into his top two schools as a result!

Ds was accepted as well. She has visited twice so far and LOVES it. It’s her top choice. Now to wait and see how scholarships play out to see if she/we can make it a reality. Congrats!

DS will be attending TU. We love TU. My husband went there so maybe we are biased. Went to Tulsa Time this past weekend, and I can’t imagine a better presentation for a school. LOVE it. My DS is studious, non-partier so it seems perfect for him. BTW, just received our scholarship offer today and are quite happy with it: $29K per year. Now, hoping to get the Presidential Scholarship, but if he doesn’t, he is still TU bound!

Congrats! That is a very nice offer. Did your DS receive the offer via snail mail?

A big envelop came toady with scholarship information inside. Can’t wait for son to come home from work to open it!

OkieMomof3, Congrats on your son’s scholarship to TU. Our situation is very similar to yours. Do you know if the TU Presidential notification is March or April?

I heard the Presidential scholarships will be awarded by April 1st.

Just curious - how many of your S/D are in the TU Honors College?

My son didn’t apply. It sounded too philosophical for him.

My son was accepted into the Honors Program. He hasn’t decided if he is going to do it or not. He likes History and some of that thinking “stuff”, but he has 9 hours of credit from AP history classes, and it seems that 3 of those hours might go to waste if he does the Honors Program. We are going to talk to an advisor about it. It would be nice to live on the Honors program dorm floor though…

Presidential scholarships are going out! We had ALL our eggs in this basket (don’t recommend this strategy), but our prayers have been answered! Thank God!

Congratulations, @MOSTAMOM5!! This is fantastic news and such a welcomed relief, I’m sure! Dd also received her nice big envelope today for the Presidential. So excited!

Hello fellow parents! Our S just decided he is headed to TU and I was happy to find this board. Wondering, for those of you with Honors freshman students, where they are choosing to live… Fisher (FYRE) dorm or the new Hardesty House? Or other plans? And, any Pres Scholars deciding not to join Honors College? (I noticed there was a previous comment about not being able to use AP History credits to full advantage with the Honors program.) Still trying to figure all of this out, thanks in advance for your input!

Hello @ParentTrip! My S is not opting for Honors but listed Fisher and Hardesty House as his two top choices for dorms. He is a Presidential Scholar but is running track and is worried about time commitments. Also he is not really a “meaning of life ponderer” so I am not sure all that philophical stuff is a good fit for him.
