@GingerTea12 and @16tobias my S is still waiting for his “30 day” decision - and it has been 62 days since he applied, 55 days since all application parts were received and his app was deemed “complete” on Nov. 6th. Have you received a decision yet?
@4kids2graduate I have not received anything yet.
Am I the only one that is impatient and irritated with this process and the innacurate timeline that CSM states on their website?
Haven’t received anything since submitting application in October. At the Preview Mines Event, I was told that it is 30 business days. 30 Business Days is until Dec. 29th… Hoping it’s just a delay in the system.
@4kids2graduate I have not received anything either… and yes, I’m getting frustrated. I wouldn’t mind it taking this long if they had not made it seem like it would be a quick decision. It’s also kind of annoying that the first time I called admissions, they said I’d be receiving a decision at the end of November, the second time it was the end of December, and now its January and I still haven’t heard anything–not even an curtesy update on why they keep moving the date later. I’m sorry to hear that there are others who are stuck in the same situation, and hopefully we’ll be able to post our results to this thread very soon.
@palm715 ooh what school in Hawaii I’m from there but live in Washington currently
My son (out of state) got his acceptance about a month ago and his scholarship award two weeks ago. (14K a year) and got an email stating he could apply for the Harvey scholarship program. Does anyone know about this program (pros’/cons) and are there any other competitive awards to apply to for out of state persons? Thanks!
@kims3blessings Congrats on your son’s acceptance. Can you share the date he applied and his stats (GPA unweighted, ACT or SAT) so we can get a sense of how long it took for his admission decision and also what stats they are allowing to apply for Harvey Scholars. Thanks.
@16tobias Sure thing! He applied on 9/26 and was accepted on 10/27. (Great to have the email trail!) We homeschool. His HS GPA is 4.0 (unweighted). Upon application, he had completed 15 hours of dual credit college classes with a 4.0. Now he has 28 done. His ACT was 34. He got his merit scholarship via letter (not email) on 12/18. He got the email that he was invited to apply to the Harvey scholarship on 12/18. Deadline to do so is 1/18. It is invitation only. I had emailed financial aid to see about tuition equalization or discount on neighboring states to CO, and they said “no” they don’t do that. She then said that the merit letters would go out in mid to late Dec. (so it did) and she said there were “a few other scholarships but you have to be invited to apply for those”. I cannot find any info on their website that specifies what all of those are, or how many, or what they are in comparison to each other. Hope this helps! Here is the link on the email.

My S applied 10/14 and still has not heard ANYTHING from CSM. It’s really frustrating. He, too, completed the quick application. We’ve called and were told “end of the week”, “end of December”. At this point the whole application process has left such a nasty taste that I don’t know that I trust how they conduct business…
For my daughter
Admitted
Applied mid-Oct, heard via email early Nov, letter a few weeks after
OOS
ACT 32
GPA 3.8 uw
Merit received $12/yr
ECs - nothing outstanding
Hook - from New England involved in track and plans on competing in college so the Mines coach spoke to Admissions, but her track numbers are solid, not spectacular
Comment - her school is one of the top public HS’s in the state but does not offer that many AP classes. The top students graduate having taken a max of 6 AP courses.
Deciding between Lafayette College and Mines
S applied end of Oct, admissions confirmed last of requirements (test scores) were received Nov. 6th so at that time his app was marked “complete” and could be reviewed (well within the “decision in 30 days” window they advertise if students apply by Nov. 15th). No word yet…and based on what others mentioned on here I called a couple of weeks ago and was told his application was “under review” and the 30 days is 30 “business days”, just like others have mentioned. I was also told that decisions would go out by the end of the month (meaning December).
Still no decision received…and getting more frustrated by the day.
OK, I’m probably overreaching, but almost all the acceptances on this thread have been female (including my D). Are they fast tracking women’s applications in hopes of improving the gender ratio?
@palm715 I just went back and reviewed all the posts on this thread…other than a couple of male student acceptances, there are definitely quite a few more female acceptances listed here…but not enough results posted to know whether it is a definite trend though.
I personally wouldn’t mind if they were trying to figure out a strategy to work on their male/female ratio though…it is currently fairly skewed. It would be great if they were able to enroll more highly qualified females!
…just don’t wait to notify highly qualified males in the meantime (said tongue-in-cheek…don’t want to get into a gender debate!).
@4kids2graduate I don’t want to get in a gender debate either. I actually thought I should delete my post, but it was to late. I just feel really bad for folks who are still waiting.
I’m also concerned that due to this delay (based on a prior post stating the if you were selected to apply for the Harvey Scholars full ride scholarship, application is due 1/18) that none of us may be even considered for that if they drag their feet and admit us after that date. If I don’t hear by Friday I’m going to call and ask about that.
@16tobias …I called today just to confirm, once again, that all application materials were received and the admission rep confirmed. He also said that they were way behind and said it might take til the end of the month! I hadn’t thought about the Harvey Scholars program. Please let us know what you find out! Thanks!
@palm just so you know…D14 was engineering focused and I was supportive of any STEM program that was supportive of female applicants…no gender argument here!
Responding for my son.
