Why you think you got accepted/wait listed/rejected: Fairly strong test scores? I also wrote the optional essay in the Golden Application, which might have helped. I’m just glad I finally got a decision, it’s been a frustrating couple of months! Thank you to all of you on this thread who answered questions I had about contacting admissions! It made the wait much more bearable; eventually, I was able to speak with someone, and I received a decision a week and a half later… Not sure if it helped speed things along or not, but to anyone else who is still waiting, I’d recommend to give emailing admissions a shot, especially if it’s been over three months like it was for me.

@GingerTea12 congrats!

Did they send you an email for your acceptance?

Hi guys. I applied in December and haven’t received my decision yet (I should have received it today, according to their website). Is anyone else in the same situation?

@BestSinceHamlet Yes, and a packet in the mail a few days later; merit aid came a few days after that
@Nevets04 I used to be!!! I received my decision two months later than I was supposed to! If I were you, I would wait around 2-3 days after the date you were supposed to receive a decision, then contact admissions via email or phone if you still haven’t heard anything. They are very behind, but if you are friendly and demonstrate interest, they might speed things along for you. Don’t wait or put off getting in contact, and be friendly but persistent! I wish you the best of luck!

I’m in the same boat as you. I didn’t get a decision yet. I applied in November, but they did not receive scores until 12/9, so I expected that my decision would come today Still waiting.

@GingerTea12 2 months? This college is weird. Well, thanks for the advice

Son applied on Golden app in October and was accepted in early November.

30 ACT, 3.6 GPA
Involved in everything
4 varsity sports
out of state (MS)

Visited for second time this weekend. Mines is in his top two and is a strong lean at this point.

@BestSinceHamlet Have you received your decision yet? I still haven’t.

Hi All,

I applied to the Colorado School of Mines relatively late, and am an OSS student. I really hope I get in, and definitely congrats to all of you who did.

Hello All,

Just one question; Does Mines release Admissions Decisions via E-Mail or Snail-Mail? I have seen that some students have gotten emails, and others, Snail Mail according to this thread. For the students who got Snail Mail, were you informed beforehand or was the Snail-mail the first time that you saw your decision?

Thanks!!!

Our D got an email, but we are in England (US student abroad), then recieved package in snail mail.

@Chinamom2 Thanks for your quick response! The reason why I am asking is that I recently contacted the Admissions Office, and they told me that a decision had been made and will be soon in the mail. I am hoping that this comes out to be good.

Thank you.

I’m still waiting. I sent an e-mail to the admissions office last mondayish, so hopefully I will get a decision soon

I actually just got my decision 15 minutes ago

@BestSinceHamlet First of all, Congrats to you! I contacted Admissions and they told me that my decision has or will have been mailed, and I should get in within 1-2 weeks. How did you receive your decision? Was it emailed or mailed? Finally, congrats again - getting into Mines is definitely a huge accomplishment.

  • Admitted
  • Applied early September using "Golden Admission"
  • My transcript was sent in wrong so there was a delay, then they wanted my semester grades in order to decide. It's funny because I got a B- in AP Calc yet I was still accepted
  • 3.34 GPA weighted, B student for the most part
  • ACT 31
  • SAT 1880
  • Merit received: $9k a year OOS
  • EC's: Boy Scout
  • Hook: I'm not sure really. White, middle class, from CT. I am a mechanical/car person and I visited, both of which I said in my application

Similar to many, my son finally received his acceptance this week (Tuesday). Here are the details:

  • New England Resident
  • Applied with Golden Application in October (no essay, but sent personal resume)
  • SAT results received by Mines on 10/28
  • Sent email in early December once "30 Days" had passed, and we were told that decisions would be by the end of year.
  • SAT = 710 Math/640 Reading/560 Writing
  • Strong summer resume, including internship with US Navy
  • Volunteer as camp counselor with at-risk youths (2 weeks; overnight)
  • EC's include fencing, drama set crew, robotics club (founder), with leadership positions for Senior Year

Acceptance was received via email, and merit scholarship received today (Thursday) via US Postal = $12K/year

Overall, we were pretty disappointed with the application process, especially the misleading statement in the Golden Application that decisions would be received within 30 days. However, it is hard to be too negative, since he has been accepted, and has been provided a sizeable scholarship offer. We will most likely visit the school in the next few weeks, and compare against other competing offers.

UW GPA: 4.0
Merit (not need) aid received - Yes, 14K
I think admissions took so long because I didn’t fully submit all the required materials. I will not be attending because even with the generous aid, It is too expensive.
