@GustafAngus Anyone who’s received some kind of offer (other than PSA) should still have their ‘change major’ button in Howdy. Since there hasn’t been anyone here who’s reported details about their Full admission, it’s hard to say if those Full offers mimic TEAM, PSA, GV, etc.
Actually, I don’t know why that button exists in the first place because who’s gonna risk messing around with it after all this stress? Being that I didn’t check Howdy that much, that ‘change major’ button could have disappeared for awhile before anything was finalized, but I don’t know for sure… hang in there!!
@collegeger There are rumblings that there have been some Full admissions, but honestly I’m skeptical of that news. However, YOU NEVER KNOW! This process has had everyone guessing – there’s not a quick answer. Somewhere along these 1400+ posts there’s info about Mays Business and it filling up… but I’m going to leave that for someone else to elaborate on!
@GustafAngus@TrumpetMel my daughter got PSA on Wednesday. We haven’t gotten an email or anything about it. There is no change in Howdy except her change major button is gone. It updated in AIS around 3:00 pm and the only change there is instead of saying your application is in review, it says you have been offered the program for system admission. Hope this helps and praying for good news for you both
@TrumpetMel look into the PTA (program for transfer admission). I think that’s what my daughter is going to end up doing. It’s only offered for certain majors and anyone can do it. You don’t have to be selected. I can give you more info on it if you want
@LizLiz7631 I’m sure someone can have a more detailed answer than I do, but doesn’t PSA refer to any of the system A&M schools. Surely there’s one with your major somewhere among the many schools in the system. I guess I should first ask, What is your major? lol!
@TrumpetMel I think you can do PTA from Blinn (non-TEAM) if you want to be in College Station. Somewhere I read about Blinn to main campus working well for education.
My major is biomedical science, and I know TAMUCC offers it, but when you go to http://admissions.tamu.edu/psa/ it does not list biomedical science as a participating major. @niccidoe
@LizLiz7631 I would contact the advisors at TAMU-CS. They are the ones that will decide about any transfers and they will know what school they like to see and what GPA / courses etc.
YES! PSA refers to any system school. It does not include Galveston, because TAMUG is a branch, not a system school. Anyone interested in going the Galveston route, would have to apply there separately. If you have any questions regarding PSA and your desired major, call A&M at College Station and speak to an admissions advisor.
@LizLiz7631 Hmm. WIth this issue, you might have to dig into minors. This meaning take a TAMU degree plan and match it up to similar degrees in the science departments in the various system schools. Find the plan that has similar requirements — always contact an advisor. — sometimes they are hidden in minors If your goal is to graduate from TAMU College Station, then it’s mandatory your basic courses and some upper levels fit TAMU’s bioscience degree plan…
So, we finally found out that my nephew got PSA. He had applied to engineering. He is still waiting to hear from other schools, but really wants to be an Aggie. I am curious what some others here, that are in the same boat, are considering.
@osmdad That’s good to know! And that makes sense. I wonder why I can access it and change my major back to what I really wanted in the first place! I dare not try, I won’t go through that suffering again!
@hoping4admit@TrumpetMel you are correct. You can do it from any community college in the state. They all work with the main campus and have the program. You just have to take the classes specified for your major, complete your 30 hours, and keep your GPA up. My daughter is doing it in Blinn only because then she will be there and not have to move twice.
Does anyone know of anyone who has received a scholarship on Blinn Team? Just wondering if any exist, although I figure the chances are slim to none of getting one.
@niccidoe Same with me. I have a change major button on Howdy, and when I click it I get the warning about all the majors that are full (Engineering, Business, Architecture and others) and asking if I really want to proceed and give up my current major that I may not be able to get back. I’m with you in leaving that button alone.
@VV2016 a TEAM offer isn’t any less likely to get a scholarship (heck some TEAM admits’ SAT/ACT scores are better than Full admits!) A lot of scholarship offers, as I understand, will filter through until June…usually from March to April, but it can be later. I’m OOS and have been offered everything under the moon at private universities so far, but nothing at UT or A&M.
@123vca My son chose mechanical engineering as a major & received PSA from TAMU. He was accepted to the University of Arkansas’ engineering department & to UNC-Charlotte’s engineering. He is very specific in what his future career will be (automotive engineering/design) so his priority is going to have to be being accepted (or the potential of a transfer acceptance) into an engineering college vs PSA & hoping to be accepted into engineering upon transfer.
I spoke to an advisor this morning & he stated that he didn’t recommend the PSA route for engineers, but it wasn’t impossible. At the PSA school you select, you would pick another major that they offer in the PSA program. The PSA program does NOT have an engineering option for automatic transfer although some schools themselves may offer a mechanical engineering degree on their campus (such as Corpus Christi). So for instance, if he selects Physics at TAMU-Corpus, has a 3.0 after completing his freshman year, he can be automatically admitted to a Physics major at TAMU-College Station BUT if he wants to then change his major, he must complete a “change of curriculum” form and HOPE that the engineering department has space & will accept him. It’s very competitive since very few spots will exist. The advisor recommended that we investigate further with him the option to transfer from another college (such as Blinn or maybe Arkansas) & follow their recommended coursework for transfer admission. For mechanical he would need a 3.25 GPS on 24 transferrable hours from their recommended coursework at a community college. I’m still trying to help my son figure it out but he will probably either just go to Arkansas or a community college & transfer hopefully into engineering.
