Class of 2020- Admission Status

Yes change major on Howdy but not AIS,I’m definitely gonna call them @niccidoe

@LoveAM have you checked to see if you have a letter yet? If you do, it may explain things. My friends son’s AIS said Team but also said still in review. She was confused and not being on this forum, didn’t realize it meant Blinn Team. On your AIS, at the top, it says My App Status, My Bio Info, My Test Scores, My Communications, Contact Us.
Click on My Communications
Click My Letters
You should have a letter there with your decision.

@Thelma2 nope, no letters except application acknowledgement when I applied

@AgME89 I realized that I did not finish my post above. If your daughter is in the top 10% at the end of her senior year, I believe she would become an automatic admit for Spring 2017. I believe if you do this you can not enroll in any college prior to Spring 2017 (or you become a transfer). I thought with her desired major and her wish to be with her brother this could be an option depending on how her school year is going.

I would of course confirm above with TAMU admissions.

Other options would be applying to Galveston with planning on a change of curriculum. ( she could join corps there) Otherwise she could meet with Zoology to discuss transfer options.

I just contacted admissions as to why my AIS and Howdy still show “In Review” and it was because of an issue on their end. If anyone still has this issue I suggest you call their admissions office to get your decision. Don’t get worried about it still showing in review, it doesn’t mean you were rejected (I ended up being admitted).

@JSziveri I called them this morning and the lady told me to wait till march to find out.

@CollegeBoards Are you applying as an international student, or as a transfer student?

@JSziveri nope freshman.

@CollegeBoards What number did you call?

@JSziveri the one they have listed on the admissions website.

@CollegeBoards I called (979) 458 0950. It’s the number that the @Aggie_Bound Twitter said to call if still in review.

@JSziveri that’s the one I called.

I have two friends who received full admission on Friday (AG and Biological Sciences/Biology). Both checked Howdy and AIS every few hours for weeks leading up to to the change of status. They said nothing changed for them until Friday, around 5. So maybe this will give next years group some hope! I was pretty surprised at the Bio major getting in as her test scores, rank, activities, etc were all below what we see on the forum - a 1050 on the SAT - 520 Math, 530 CR, ACT 24, rank 24%. The AG major, his extra curricular helped for sure. He has been showing animals since he was a kid and has a lot of FFA ribbons, awards and accolades. His scores were also lower than what you typically see in this forum, around 25 ACT, 1120 SAT, rank 22%.

So this goes to show everyone, the extracurriculars, essays, awards, etc do factor in big for holistic review candidates.

accepted, 2090 sat, 3.65 gpa oos

does anyone know how to apply for in state tuition out of state? I think you have to receive a scholarship of some sort
also, when does A&M release scholarship info?

@Saltyvin When you filled out your ApplyTexas application, you may have filled out the scholarship app at the time – check your ApplyTexas portal. The way I understand this is that OOS students will not be granted out of state tuition unless they’ve received some type of scholarship of $1000 or more. This is suppose to qualify them for in state tuition.

FA release dates are probably not until late March, but I wouldn’t expect a final award until after May (I’m sure some early applicants received merit when they were accepted, but I haven’t heard about many thus far).

Based on some previous posts here, looks like scholarships are already being awarded

I read that some had already received them too… none of my OOS friends have heard word, but maybe they just weren’t offered merit awards (my experience with state school awards has been $0, but the private schools I’ve been accepted to were very generous, but their COA after the award is as much as TAMU with oos tuition!)

It seems that it’s competitive with the auto admit pool, so I’m not expecting any merit. I’m sure they’ll offer me a small loan

So i am offered engineering at Galveston today , anyone know if it’s worth it? Can I transfer to college station after 1 semester? Or should I go to a different school then transfer ? Shouldn’t I have a better chance admitted if I come from Galveston thou?

Thank you.
