Sorry that this isn’t strictly pertaining to admissions decisions, but A&M encourages its rising freshmen to apply for housing and they say it isn’t binding. So I guess that means you don’t have to make deposit when you do? Is it a good idea to apply for housing just in case my other apps don’t pan out?
@Saltyvin Signing up for housing (at this point it will be a Waitlist) will require a non-refundable $50 application fee. You can put yourself on a Notification List that doesn’t require a fee, but it only notifies you about openings and you will not be given accommodations until after everyone on the waistlist has been given an assigned room.
Status update: accepted to University Honors.
So i was offered PSA, and was deciding to go Blinn and transfer over later on. I was also accepted into A&M Galveston which i did not want to attend, but then i got offered to interview for the terry foundation scholarship for Galveston. I have also read that it is easier to transfer from Galveston than Blinn to go into TAMU, so now I’m pretty unsure, any thoughts?
Are you doing engineering? If you are doing GV engineering you are technically accepted into the Dwight look college. You are just at a different school for the first year. You will be competing with the college station students for your major ( a 3.5 will garuntee you your major at CS just like the other students) if you were offered this program I would highly reccomend you take advantage of it
@Lzp1919 Congrats! The Terry scolarship is a great opportunity and you can find out more here:

I assume you are not part of the Dwight Look Engineering at Galveston as you got PSA. However, you obviously impressed with your scholarship application. It looks like the Terry Scholarships are awarded before May1 so you will have time to decide.
In regards to Galveston it takes a change of curriculum to go to the College Station campus. I will let others chime in as to which is easier (extenal transfer vs change of curriculum)
If you get the Terry scholarship, go to Galveston. Establish a strong GPA and submit a transfer application to A&M. IF you don’t get in you still have the scholarship (assuming the scholarships lasts 4 years).
Does an invitation to apply for an honors program mean anythin positive or is it just an automated mail. I reeived an email today about an invitation to apply for engineering honors going on right now. What exactly is it… does it really mean something or is it just automated
When did you apply: Mid October
When did you get your UIN: October 14th
When did you receive your admission decision: November 6
Auto-admit? Academic Admit? Review: Academic Admit
Major/College of Choice: Applied to Dwight Look School of Engineering (Biomedical Engineering)
Honors program: Got invited to apply, but I’m thinking NEH. Will join the Corps of Cadets if I end up going to TAMU
Stats: Top 15%, 31 ACT, 3.8/4.19 GPA, NHS, Various EC’s and other stuff.
How much financial need does TAMU usually cover? My EFC is 0000, will they cover all of it? I am OOS, but already have a Corps scholarship and in-state waiver.
Our next door neighbor’s daughter is an engineering freshman at Tamu. She was an auto admit and could have qualified as academic admit as well. She currently has a 3.1 gpa. Freshman class average right now in engineering is 2.7. She will apply for her preferred engineering college in April. An engineering student gets three shots at applying to an engineering school: At the end of 2nd semester, at end of third semester and at end of 4th semester. After that, it is “thanks for playing” and you apply somewhere else within the university.
Does anyone know when the financial aid award letters will go out for A&M? I was offered the Academy at Blinn-Bryan and I’m waiting on the financial aid letter before I make my decisions (b/w Blinn-Team for eng, UH Honors, or UTD)
Also, if anyone has thoughts on their preferences etc for the universities I just names
Thanks lol
I would personally choose UTD out of all these. They give the best financial aid and are a really decent school. If you end up doing blinn your probably just as good going to you local community college. It would be much cheaper than living in a dorm in college station
@anthonys621 Even if it is the Engineering Academy Blinn? (Given that my major is biomedical engineering). UTD gives better financial aid than even UH, really? Dang lol. The thing is, when I visited UTD back in November, they said that their BMEN program isn’t accredited so idk if it’s a good choice
Does being in the cadet program at Texas A&M guarantee who will be at the College Station campus? It seems like it would.
I didn’t know about their bmen program not being accredited. Knowing that I would go with U of H. UTD gives better aid from what I heard, I got nearly the same scholarship at both schools( 24k at UTD and 22k at UH) id visit all the schools before you make your choice. When I visited U of H I didn’t feel as safe as I did at A&M. A&M has those security poles all around where U of H has like one or two. If financial situation allows it you are right about blinn probably being your best option ( granted you know you will do well in the program). But it really is a tough call because U of H has a really good medical program also
Joining the Corps of Cadets will guarantee you on-campus housing as long as you stay in the Corps.
@abcd55985dhd Called today and was told TAMU Fin Aid behind schedule. I do believe they are trying to get packages out in March and early April.
Does everyone on the wait list eventually get housing? Getting worried.
You will get housing of some sort. They try really hard to get all freshmen on campus. As offers of admissions are declined and people cancel their housing contracts, spaces also open up. A few years ago, a friend of mine’s daughter did not get on campus housing as a freshman, but she got housing. Several apartment complexes are associated with the university and she was housed in a 4 bedroom 2 bath apartment with 3 other freshmen. She did not get to pick her roommates. She had a wonderful experience.
